JAL Economy Ticket Upgrade To Business

Hi

Would be possible to upgrade a JAL Economy ticket to Business on the day of the departure.
Sometimes, there were unsold business class seat on the day of departure and the airlines offer them for a price at the airport's check in counter.
Anyone had that experience recently.

JAL has fixed price upgrades to Premium Economy, but to my knowledge there is no special upgrade pricing to Business, so expect to pay the fare difference.

I just looked on the JAL manage booking page and noticed there is a Bid Now option to upgrade. This looks like the plus upgrade portal. Has anyone had any experience using this?

Yep have been successful once and not successful more. Usually the upper classes are pretty full up on the Japan flights

I did a check of the seats availability and there are only 8 seats left. I think it will be gone when my departure date comes closer. How much higher did you bid for the seats. I need 2 though, slim chance I guess.

Can't recall specifically but always more than minimum. I'm only a single traveller so yeah going for two might be a bit less likely

As a data point, bid $20 above minimum from a Y ticket on JL774. And got the upgrade 36 hours before flight. Expertflyer had 9 seats available at the time of clearing.
