The purpose of the colour bin lidss can vary between councils based on which provider they use to collect the rubbish, recycling and green waste.

For example the LGA i live is is one of the super councils that merged 3 previously separate councils.

The sections that were originally council 1 & council 2 have their rubbish and recycling collected by Cleanaway so have:
* Red Lid - rubbish going to landfill
* Yellow Lid - Recycling - bottles, cans paper
* Green Lid - green waste i.e. grass clippings and
* If you live in a MDU also a Purple Lid - for food waste. You get a mini purple bin for your unit and special biodegradable liners which you are then meant to empty into a common purple bin.

Whereas the sections that were originally council 3 have their rubbish and recycling collected by JJ Richardson and have:
* Red Lid - rubbish going to landfill
* Yellow Lid - Recycling - bottles and cans but NOT paper
* Blue Lid - Paper and Cardboard only
* Green Lid- green waste i.e. grass clippings
They don't get purple Lid.

WRT to 10c return and earn, I've noticed bin scabs go around the neighbourhood on bin day and take the 10c refund items out of people yellow lid bins to cash in themselves. No news on a new Blue lid bin type.

Living in an MDU there is always some tosser who puts plastic bags in the recycle bin (instead of taking to supermarket) or pizza boxes it is very hard to police even though there is very clear signs noting what can and cant be put in each bin with pictures on the wall of the garbage rooms.

When in Costa Rica there were 7 different bin colours everywhere - was quite difficult to work out which was for which but one was specifically for coffee cups

WCMO is they only collect Yellow Lid Bin fortnightly, but the Red Lid Bin is weekly - this is because the recycle truck is shared by multiple councils. BUT I always have 2-3 times as much recycling as general rubbish.
We pay for an extra Blue & Yellow and need the extra ones most fortnights. And we do collect the 10c items separately

And we do collect the 10c items separately
We‘ve been putting the 10c items in a separate tub … because that makes the life easier of the bloke who was going to rifle through the bin anyway, and frankly the ~#3/fortnight we’d make if we did it ourselves isn’t worth the effort of going to a recycling place.

Nah! Councils just combine them and put them all in the one refuse tip. Colours are just to charge you extra.

So pick the ones from your blackbook that you think deserve a bet and then bet on the others. Simple. ;)
You know that's not how the simulation works. The programming is dynamic to take into consideration perceived reality. Quite clever actually.

I follow some tipsters, some free services, some paid services. I went to have a bet tonight and at 9:22pm saw the guy had a tip for the 9:15pm at Happy Valley. Before I even checked the result I knew the tip had won. That's scary.

If you bet they lose, if you miss them they win. Definitely not random.

I do wonder to what extent that happens
I don’t think it happens at the council level … but there’re a heap of “recyclable” plastics that aren’t recycled, once it gets past council to whoever’s got the contract to deal with it.

WCMO is airline staff prowling the check-in and security queues calling people to the front when their flight is close to boarding.

Why should I bother turning up and hour early only to spend that time standing in a queue as stragglers who turn up late are rewarded with a premium service.

What is the worst 'crime' I wonder. Putting potentially recyclable products into landfill or contaminating recycling by mistake.
Or "Airbnb"er's putting all their weekend rubbish into our bins because they think they can 🤔 it's the downside of being a permanent resident in a beachside holiday town.

Some consistency would be good, it's not just people moving but what about short term rentals like someone on holiday?
We are flanked by short term/ holiday rentals and though they may recycle at home, seem to forget when on holiday. Favourite pastime is tip toeing out after dark to load up our bins🤨
In summer, we now put our bins out at 5 am!

A coastal village (south coast NSW) we've been visiting for over 20 years went from normal sized waste bins (half the size of recycling/green waste bins) to half that size again - tiny. We used to stay with extended family in a big house so there were ten of us (six kids) and at the end of the week we had way more rubbish than could fit in the red bin so I had to sneak around to find bins in parks I could dump it. The rental house owner could easily have just paid for a second bin I guess. We did recycle as much as we could and filled that bin as well. I've always felt dodgy about dropping my rubbish in neighbours' bins but dropping domestic waste into park bins is probably subject to a fine or two I suppose.

Our bin collection seems to roll by at just after 6am now (used to be 8.45). Forgot last week....... so a sight to behold, me running out there in my jimmy jams to roll them out. Have just put them out for tomorrow (just gone midnight here, so collected soon enough).
The council in our seaside area removed all rubbish bins located in public places because of this about 6 months ago.
Also known as fly tipping..... over here, anyway!

WCMO is our new neighbours who open the bathroom window right up when they're showering, got an under the covers glimpse - all on show while I was sitting out on our side balcony. Or should that not CMO? ;-)

for instance, I have noticed that airline staff use the *very much* in the end, which could be as a result of their training to say *very much* in the end ... Another instance could be staff at Woolies/Coles - again part of the training, perhaps?
nope. The customer greeting/interaction training consists of "be yourself" and "greet the customer in your own way".

Hopefully the little cough is bouncing of the walls at 4am keeping the “adults” awake.
That reminds me of the "little cough" during my first overseas trip.
Dad was sent to a work conference at Disneyworld. It was the last year before the kids (me and 2 siblings) could get the discounted kids fares.
On the way home, we had overnighted in SFO, then connected through NRT. A long connection at NRT...
Most of the pax connecting to the NRT-SYD flight just wanted to nap before the gate got busy.
Then the "little cough" arrived. He spent hours running around screaming and jumping on everything. His mother didn't care. She was just interested in trying to sell telemarketing cough to everyone else around her.
This behavior from both of them continued on board. With the added "fun" of the "little cough" getting one of the 747 model kits that JAL used to hand out and throwing the completed model at people (including the flight attendants).

Good old Australia Post again. Sending a package from ADL to SYD. Its taken over a week and when I look at the tracking I was disappointed once again -

Their processing software is clearly problematic and its costing fuel, money and time.

@JohnK you appear to bet like I use to invest (??) on the share market. I told friends that I did my research and then told them what I was going to buy, together with my recommendation that they should probably short-sell my choices. In the end I gave up share trading and invested it into my superannuation which has paid far better. Perhaps you should do the same so your family get the benefits and not the betting companies.
That's great advice but I feel I need to have a vice. I don't eat out. I don't buy alcohol. I don't buy designer clothes. I love the thrill that gambling provides. Gambling these days for me is more about taking risks but I don't do big bets. I can go weeks without adding any money to 3 betting accounts but then can have a bad run and add a few hundred dollars.

The first question should be how did a 15 year old get into gambling? It's in my blood. Destiny? Simulation?

That's interesting and I had no idea that may include a fine.

We stopped using rubbish bin a long time ago and I don't use neighbours' bins. We take our household rubbish daily to council provided street bins, park bins or mall bins.

We've only ever encountered one cleaner in a mall who saw us dropping rubbish into their bins but never an issue anywhere else.

Tongue in cheek, imagine if that item earned FF mileage!
And eligible sectors if with VFF.
