Hello,

Does anyone have experience with linking SQ paid and award PNRs currently? I will be traveling PER-SIN on paid Economy ticket and SIN-JNB on Redemption (in J class) ticket. The transit time between both flights is 3hrs, arriving and departing from T3. Will they checked my luggage through to JNB? I don't even need it to be checked in as Priority, just as long as I don't have to clear Immigration and check in again etc in SIN. Please advise :) thank you!

I don’t think there will be any problems with this. There was a restriction that you needed to be on a single ticket to transit singapore, but I think that has gone now covid restrictions have been removed for fully vaxxed (exceptions still apppy for mainland china I think).

You just need to present the onward ticket or booking reference at checkin at PER. The check in staff will make all the arrangements. There’s nothing you need to do in advance of arrival at the airport.

Of course if they can’t through check they will advise you at the time.

Thanks for responding @MEL_Traveller, i do hope that’s the case. If it comes to worst, is 3hrs transfer enough if i have to clear Imm, check in again etc with luggage?

There’s a recent thread here on AFF about current arrival conditions into Singapore. Ordinarily 3 hours would be more than enough time to collect bags and check back in. Dunno if that’s been fundamentally changed due to covid or not.

Thanks! I will check other posts 🙂

I think the restriction is still valid ; if your flights are on different PNR then you might have to pick your luggage and check-in again. I travelled last week and was informed of this by some of the fellow community members.

To avoid , suggest calling the SIA customer service and seek their assistance to link both the PNRs , which worked well for me in the past.

All the best !

I cannot see you having any problem linking separate BRs at check in.

I did it a week ago in FRA - R FRA-SIN and J SIN-MEL - yes both were rdpts but simply done in FRA at check in and done without hesitation - i just can't see how rev / rdpt combo would be any diff.

Had no problem linking paid SQ - MEL-SIN and redemption SIN-FRA in June. I did call ahead and asked them to make a not on the booking - not sure if this helped at all.

Thanks to all who have responded :) I did message SIA via their website and they just recently replied and confirmed that they would check the baggage through at PER if both legs are on SQ. The trip is in less than 2 weeks and i will post update!

No as in you can’t ordinarily turn 2 bookings into one AFAIK. But 2 separate tickets for the same airline sold by same airline won’t be a problem in terms of seamless transition as a passenger from one flight to the next.

They can put a note on the bookings but I can never verify if the notes actually do anything.
