SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Also a report on how crowded the lounge is overnight would be greatly appreciated
As per my post yesterday, the lounge has very few people in it in the early hours after midnight.

This was around 1am to 4am on a Friday morning.

I slept on a two seater couch near the far north end.

Anyone know why I'm getting an error trying to book the following itinerary via the multi city tool?

SYD - SIN 12 Nov SQ232 12.15 - 17.35
SIN - SGN 13 Nov SQ186 17.30 - 18.40
DAD - SYD 21 Nov SQ171 / SQ231 11.50 - 15.50, 00.45 - 11.50

I keep getting the 'We cannot process your request right now. Please start again with a new flight search' error.
From some trial and error, the system does not seem to like me booking SQ232 as the booking works fine if I choose the later SQ242 flight.

I have had endless problems trying to book multi-city bookings. Spent probably 10 hours going back and forward trying before getting a travel agent to do it!

Well I ended up ringing the SQ call centre yesterday and they said they couldn't see SQ232 in their system, which was weird since I can see it and it's bookable under certain circumstances.

SQ232 is listed as a A380 past 30 Oct but first class and premium economy aren't yet being sold on that flight either - I'm guessing it's to do with the Northern Winter 2022-2023 schedules not quite being finalised yet and that is causing some issues.

I picked up 4 xstandard J SIN-SYD for April next year via VA last month (VA receive access slightly later than KF redemptions)
We need seats for 2 adults and 2 kidlets; we will split up across 2 flights if we need to. We are planning to use VA points too.

When you say "standard" do you mean just a regular J redemption? Last I checked on VA there's no "Saver"/"Advantage" redemption levels on VA as opposed to SQ?
Never booked SQ redemptions via VA so curious about how it works :)

Are we dreaming if we're hoping for 4x J reward seats to/from SIN?
No if you have dates ~ 12 months out.Date released this morning is 17/6/23.
On 15/6 4 J savers MEL-SIN on 2 flights but none for 4 pax on 16,17/6 -the weekend.
But SIN-MEL at least 1 flight with 4 J savers 15,16 and 17/6

So if you can plan ahead it can be done. Awards come on at 11am in Eastern Australia.
Sorry this was on SQ but as they are saver awards may just come up on VA.

Yes. Meant to say Saver though realise now that's potentially confusing (AFAIK VA only has access to Saver inventory)
Point I was making was that if you can book VA, you can get Saver too

I'm looking to book some SQ business reward seats for the inlaws. Options are either A380 SIN-SYD, or A350 SIN-BNE-SYD.
Curious to hear people's opinions of which seat is better ? Both flights are red-eye.

It’is not a long flight SIN - SYD so it will be a relatively shortish night. The A380 would be comfortable and give a bit more time without needing to then do a connection to BNE when tired.

7 years younger! 😤
Only asked as I have a younger brother who claims to know all things flying and he can sort all things out. Mum and Dad have realised P1 passes and upgrades come from a different source. Our younger sister was once crew on said flights.

No but it will be hard...
We can be a bit flexible depending on availability, and can split up over two flights if needed (Miss TomCat has already said she wants to go with me :D). the ultimate destination is Khao Lak so we can meet in SIN then travel from there.

Split it up and I doubt there will be many problems. Even 4 on the same flight if booked far enough in advance. We have got 3 on the same flight as recently as April.

OT but I remember when ADSL internet was new and slowly replacing dialup. 100MB was a common  monthly allowance. Funny how times have changed and 100MB is a pittance these days!

/end OT
Ppffft. My first 8088XT desktop computer had 20MB Hard drive and 640KB RAM. Upgraded to an AT after that which had 40MB HD/1MB RAM - made the XT seem like a dinosaur especially when compiling my Pascal and Fortran programs. :D
