QF9 - is there a trick to finding a classic reward seat?

With my shiny new WP, I'm keen to give my SO his first FLounge experience, and both of us have been keen to visit Perth for a long time. Scoring the MEL-PER leg of QF9 would tick both boxes. However, seats seem extremely expensive, even in Y, and I've yet to spot a Y classic reward availability. Is there an easier way of looking than doggedly going through day after day and manually checking? Or is it all wasted effort?

I get best luck with using the Multi City search function. It should show you a calendar of what days have availability and you can look from there. What dates are you looking at?

Thank you, yes I did that and there's availability most days MEL-PER, just not on QF9.
I'm looking at pretty much any date, the sooner the better :)

If you see "I" class availability on EF you can call QF and ask them to release award seats. But considering that LHR flights seem to be 110% full at the moment it's possible the computer might say no even with I9.
For Y class awards to be released I think you need O class availability, which seems to be zeroed out on QF9. But worth a call anyway.

That flight on the 25th has interesting loading. PE is almost full, but QF is selling 2 awards in Z class:
J9 C9 D0 I0 U0 W6 R0 T0 Z2 Y9 B0 H9 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0
Sorry, I'm not up with all the classes. What is Z class and how do I use this information?
I also need a good tutorial on using EF. I want to try out the premium subscription for 5 days with a view to subscribing
Thanks for your advice so far :)

Edit: got it, Z is PE reward. How would I go about booking it?

If you see P, U, Z or X class in EF it means these seats can be booked online directly on QF website.
If you are interested in these Z seats on the 25th, don't wait too long...award seats disappear quickly!

If you mean 25th of this month, I can't see them on the QF site
