OWE seat selection on AA

I thought they reduced F to J earning at the same time though? So at the pointy end it wasn't doubled.

As in two class domestic F? That earnt as J before and after. Those rates doubled.

Three class domestic and international F (real F) still earns at F.

Sorry, I'm getting my timing wrong. I thought the JV was a while back, but it was only late 2019?

Two-class F used to earn at F rates until early 2017.

Two-class F used to actually earn as F until early 2017.

and the heady days of YUPP fares…. 😔

What crack was AJ on when signing the JV? QF gets no MCE and worse seat selection when booking a QF flight number.
Well didn't the ACCC say their JV was invalid. Pretty sure QF and AA are at the basics of their agreement instead of what they wanted.

No, I can't find any record of ACCC being against it (they basically had a view that AA wouldn't fly to Australia if not for QF).

It was the US DOT.

But the antitrust immunity was subsequently granted in 2019.

If you have a good travel agent, you can still get MCE for free as QF gold/plat.
Given it's the hopeless corporate one, I don't. But any hints at how I can guide them to this outcome?
Yes. The AA PNR is different. You need to call up QF for QF codeshares to get the AA record locator.
Wow....that's painful. Would the travel agent be able to provide that or only QF?

I seem to recall finding it on 'Find my trip' or whatever it was called ( I'm clearly not match fit) when there was a AA flight booked through Qantas. Maybe the AA app will show???

CheckMyTrip App will show the AA PNR.
Add trip with reservation no and the AA PNR will show in the trip details.

Perhaps I'm stupid, but CheckMyTrip shows the same PNR for the AA flight. The scratched out bit is where I'm looking. Clicking on the flight gives the same info. Where do I find the magical AA PNR?

If all the AA flights in your booking are QF codeshare, then you'll need to call AA to get the AA specific PNR.
They are not like QF. You call, they pick up the phone quite quickly usually. No need to be Concierge Key to talk to someone!

No need to even pick up the phone! Open the AA mobile app > contact American > chat with us. They were able to give me the AA PNR within 5 minutes

It's up to your corporate agent having good relations with AA.

To get the AA record locator, QF will be able to give it to you easily. AA will take longer to find it as they have to find you by passenger name.

Just to close the loop. DM via Twitter got me the AA record locator. Pretty painless. Was able to select seats from the entire Y cabin but not MCE. There was an option to pay for a MCE seat if I wanted to.

I find it bizarre that the seat selection on QF is so poor.

If you had booked the AA flight number (even on a QF ticket) you'd have the full selection.

Codeshares complicate things. Try flying LATAM on a QF codeshare.

AA and QF are the same alliance and have a JV. Seems a little ridiculous to me. Additionally, there shouldn't be a trade off of picking AA for better seat selection of QF for better earn rates.

I'm sure this can be solved on the back-end so it's seamless for customers.

I wonder if some of the issues between QF and AA noted above is that they use different booking ‘engines’?
