My stays have been 95% Hampton by Hilton this year (30 or so nights so far). In Poland and Germany I found the breakfast offerings to be more varied/better than what I've had at some Hiltons. The beds are comfy. You know exactly what you're getting and they're all modern.
Would also recommend within Europe as they’re mostly new properties. Different story in the US- some truly horrid Hamptons over there.

I guess I've been lucky then! All the ones I've stayed at in the US have been superb.
Glad to hear- I’ve been to some real shockers. Actually, it was a Hampton somewhere close to Orlando airport a few years back when I was woken to a family of coughroaches having a rave in my bathroom and the hotel was not willing to help, despite their “Money back if it’s not right” guarantee.

Ace, thanks. I’ll pick the Hampton then. It’s a pretty substantial saving. My hotel splurge will be in the Dolomites and Venice instead!

Yep many Hamptons on the US are horrid! I feel like they are trying to revive the brand with the new ones they build but the old one need to be bulldozed !

A bit of a decision to make the next time I'm in the US with their F&B credit vs Free breakfast at Embassy Suites, Hamptons, Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites and Tru.

Wonder what the experience redeeming the Gold/Diamond F&B credit is like and would the free breakfast be worth more.

The Hilton family hotels are aimed at certain markets. Many (older) Hamptons in the US are for the budget traveller, 1* or 2*. Some of the newer ones aren’t too bad, around the 3* mark. They generally fulfil a purpose. Some are pretty good for the money, and include a basic breakfast, usually with some hot items.

Hamptons tend to have a loyal following in the US. The rates suit many road warriors.

Property: Hilton Cairns
Status: Diamond
Room Booked: One bedroom Exec suite
Rate : Gov, 4 nights.
Received: One bedroom Exec suite (819 refurbished).
Amenity: Two waters (not replenished), block of chocolate and cheap but ok bottle of Shiraz.

First of 2 stays here this month. Quite disappointed to get 819 which has an inferior view and is very exposed. Thanks to Maddison managed to move to 822 after the first night.

Lots of new staff but still some familiar faces who look after me really well. Especially the breakfast crew of Anne, Rona, Anna and others, who remember all my preferences and give me everything I like whether on the menu or not. No barista tax for Diamonds.

As previously posted, lounge evening hours cut back to 6pm to 8pm. Food has also diminished a bit in my view. No variety from night to night. Service is good but can be very inefficient. Taking multiple drink orders at the same time just leads to bottlenecks and guests waiting 20 minutes for a drink. Staggered service so much better in my opinion. Last drinks called at 19:30 most nights which is silly. But not actually the last chance.

Waters not replenished (encouraging bottle refilling from a communal station - in COVID, no thanks.). Didn’t get housekeeping one day, nor any replacement towels any day. Thankfully this was rectified by the amazing Peter at the front desk every time I called. But shouldn’t have needed to.

The refurbishment is so minimal from what I can tell. Ok but not transformational. May be so in the more basic rooms.

I am always looked after here but hoping for a bit more next stay.

Stayed both ends of an excellent Flinders Ranges tour - the rain up north has certainly transformed the inland.

Both stays offered a similar soft product with reasonable check-in/check-out service despite the hotel being quite busy. On the return visit, I did comment on the low floor offered compared to the first stay. A cursory check to try to find a better room and then a lame excuse about how busy the property was. A pity as the low floors in need of some maintenance:

They stick Covid notices on all the doors once the room serviced - a simple paint and installation of a plastic strip would improve the view in the corridor a lot.

Our room was in need of some maintenance as well. Broken light - not fixed during stay despite reporting it. The rest of the room just very 'tired' and in need of a refresh.

Continental breakfast quite satisfactory and, even the full breakfast ($10 extra), provided enough options for most people.

Contacted twice in the past (post stays to give feedback). No response either time. I’ve had my issues addressed by the staff on duty so all fine. Am here again now and everything is good. Will post details after departure.
I also am here now (diamond), booked Hilton guest room received a hilton spa room on 8th floor. To me just a standard room with a spa bath instead of a normal bath. Not much of an upgrade IMO. Just going off to investigate the facilities
