Qantas "Choose your reward" Promo. Select from Double Status Credits OR Double Points [book 25/3/22-1/4/22]

So the T&C's say "Double Qantas Points and double Status Credits will be credited to your account from eight weeks after travel." - are they really going to take 8+ weeks to post, or can we expect ~48 hours like last year's promo? I'm using this promo to scrape into WP 2 weeks before my membership year expires, but will be very frustrating having to wait 6 weeks into my new membership before the DSC that get me over the line from the qualifying flight posts!
They've always given a long time in the T&Cs for the DSC to post.

The first batch of flights to get DSC tends to take the longest, but after that it generally is pretty quick, after a few days or so.

Key things to try to ensure smooth posting are to
  1. Register for the promo
  2. Wait till after midnight GMT on the opening day of the promo before making bookings (the T&Cs do refer to AEST or AEDT depending on the time of year, but QF's IT systems go off GMT, so if you booked before midnight GMT on the opening morning of the promo it may not automatically credit the DSC).
  3. Make new bookings using a new PNR during the booking window

Looking to make one last booking before the promo ends. I need to go to the UK later this year, but unsure of the dates.
If I book those flights now and change the dates under the Fly Flexible policy, will I still get double status credits or will the issuing of a new ticket but under the same booking number after the promo ends mean I'll get just the regular entitlement?

Flights coming up for me. The time you posted suggests they may have been doing maintenance. Note that BCI-LRE is currently more expensive than city pairs like MEL-SYD as the DSC coincides with a sale.

QF have of course been steadily jacking up the sale fares during the promo.
Thank you @PineappleSkip

Around 2 am IST I was able to make a booking using the iPhone app. Got BCI-LRE for $173 flex Y one way. Will make another booking now. Idea is to use/change these flex Y for later trips.

Side note - I’m Dec 2022 anniversary QF WP. I’ve made a booking after 28/02. So according to the status extension support page, my WP will be extended to Dec 2023 anyways. So this DSC booking is just to get the SC tally for the international travels I’d have to make anyways in 2022.

Just got company approval for a bit of travel and wanted (read: have to) booked via AMEXGBT. Unfortunately, Concur is down (apparently not just for my company but all others that use Concur) and hence bookings are not possible to make atm. Operator said, they are also not authorized to make bookings manually if the departure date is more than 1 month out. Not happy, at least an operator picked up instantly at AMEXGBT (bit different to the Qantas Call Center)...

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I managed to book 3 trips on this promo, but was limited to long weekends and xmas shutdown windows.
  • SYD-MEL return in Y = 40SCs
  • SYD-CBR return in Y = 40SCs
  • SYD-MEL-WLG return in J = 480SCs (the prices jumped up considerably if added another domestic leg)
I will easily requalify for Gold for 2024 (2023 already guarnateed by taking 1 flight) and get within striking distance of platinum for first time. If QF run a DSC at same period next year (or in latter half of this year where I can book for travel in period April-July 2023) I should get there but 1400 SCs is a huge stretch given I no longer get any work travel.

Does anyone know if the SCs earned via points club on classic awards contribute to loyalty bonus or not? If they do I can bank on an extra 50SCs which will help.

After a bit of messing around online I was able to book a trip MEL-AKL-SYD-MEL in J which will net me 400SC for about $1200 (I could have done it for under $1000 but would have involved some rather uncivilised flight departure times). I frankly regard this as a bit of a scam but if QF are prepared to offer it why not take them up.

I dont expect any further extensions memberships expiring Jan 2023, so I bit the bullet, booked 2 returns trips to NZ. 980SC for about $1.60/SC (after use of AMEX travel credits).

I was a bit tempted to book a further trip to NZ for the end of the year, but I don't know want to lock in plans that far ahead.

I made a booking and payment on April 1 with a PNR generated earlier today as a result of them "holding the booking", but the ticket was issued at like 12.05am on April 2.

Would that still qualify for double status? Only a Syd-Mel so not end of the world, but would be annoying to miss out.

It sounds like you have missed out on DSC by six minutes.

In case its not processed as DSC after the x weeks past the traveling dates ( check t&cs for the value of x), I would call the frequent flyer team and argue it should, considering you booked during the promotion period.

Hopefully your payment method can prove you paid before 11:59pm on 1 April. Another possibility is a screenshot of booking reference taken at the right time.

QF‘s IT systems seem to be based on GMT, so just after midnight AEDST on the final day of the booking window may not be an issue at all.

I’m about to fly before midnight GMT on the opening day of the flying window. I wonder whether DSC’s will automatically post or if I’ll have to manually follow it up. Only 10 SC but everything helps.

Here's one for the brains trust... I requested a classic reward seat be released. The droid didn't process it until after midnight.

The PNR was created before midnight BUT the initial ticketing didn't happen until after midnight.

So the first recorded ticket date in the PNR will be today.

Do you think the double SC (as Points Club) will apply?
