Platinum upgrades on Choice and Elevate Fares - now to June 2022

have a feeling we will have another round of double status credits drop during March ... anyone else feel that might be the case?
No chance! (At least in March.)

With $299 domestic business fares earning 115 SC, it almost is anyway.

Plus, many Plats will keep their status for another 365 days even if they don't fly.

Golly. Is that MEL-SYD?

Seeing Feb 28 2023 is the renew date for most Elites, Virgin will need to dangle some SC offered I am guessing.

They want to see some FLIGHTS in the next year. 100,000 folks with a shiny Gold/Plat card taking no flights for that year adds zero to their bottom line.

I really don't see the point of having a loyalty card for a company if you are not flying with them. Plus I would rather like to see extra benefits for those of us who are.

I think that goes without saying.

Um, all Airlines want pax next year.... And the year after!

But you need to do the SC to renew across 2022-2023 to get to 800 (Plat) and 400 (Gold)... I'm doing three weekends away in March taking advantage of the bonus SC on offer.

You’re right. They’ve just extended the double (ish) status credits offer until 30 June 2022.

Yes they had to dangle a carrot really.

Millions of shiny cards offering free status for a year that many have any incentive to re-quality for, earns them zero $$s.

We near all have had our speedo set back to zero now to end Feb 2023, and now to get those 800 S/Cs earned in a year.

Seems the link in the email and all the T&C wording goes to 31 MARCH and not 30 June, so very confusing.

Announce an enticing promo and the back room stuffs it all up, by not updating all the web links. :(

There are inconsistencies all over the website. It might well be a last minute decision. I suspect they’ve seen a lot of bookings made for the month of March given that statuses have been reset and there’s a double credit promotion until the 31st, but perhaps there is a significant drop off after that.

I've had a lot of Choice fare bookings up to 30th April with the flexible flying policy that ends on that date.

After April I only have a couple of J fares which have full refund flexibility, as Choice fares go back to $80 fees for change/cancel.

Looks like this is still ending on 30 June? I haven't seen anything about further extensions to the ability to use a Plat upgrade on a Choice fare.

While speaking to someone on the Platinum line about something unrelated this morning, I asked about whether there would be an extension to this and was advised that the promotion is ending June 30. Shame!

Can confirm that moving a Plat biz upgrade booking with Choice fare beyond June 30 won’t work. Their system and/or manual checks catches it and forces an upgrade to Flex or cancel.
