Interesting comment:

UK foreign secretary supports Brits if they want to fight in Ukraine

Liz Truss was speaking to Sophie Raworth on the BBC this morning.

So OK by UK Government if a Brit travels to Ukraine to be part of a pseudo-international volunteer force to help defend Ukraine.
Speculation we may allow the same thing too, will need a legislation change tho.

From the Kiev Independent -
During a phone call with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would meet with the Russian delegation without preconditions on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, near the Pripyat River.

Just after this announcement Putin announced the nuclear option.

at Antonov International Airport (GML) as a result of a Russian air attack, the An-225 Mriya, which was standing in the hangar, was burned - the largest and most lifting aircraft in history, which exists in a single copy. The mayor of the city of Bucha Anatoly Fedoruk told Radio Liberty about this. 😞😞😞

Of real concern in the EU is the reliance on Russian gas, 40% of EU gas and 25% of oil comes from Russia.

If the taps get turned off there is a real possibility of a energy crisis crippling the EU.

Although %'s may seem small, it will affect prices globally. That's because these commodities are traded on a global basis and supply will also then need to shift from other areas etc. Fun and games.

Well the fact that Ukraine is still surviving is a real loss of face for the Russians.
The Ukraine President rubbing it in.
⚡️Zelensky: “Already 4,500 Russian soldiers have been killed. Why did you all come here?

Drop your weapons and leave, don’t trust your commanders, don’t trust your propagandists, just save your lives - leave.”

As well the ruble has fallen 40% against the US dollar.
The Russian Central bank has lifted the borrowing rate from 9.5% to 20%.

Must be increasing pressure on Putin at home.

If the peace talks go ahead, I wonder what would be discussed.

Russia; I want Ukraine to do X Y and Z for me withdrawing.

Ukraine: You are "losing" (not gaining politically) while you are in Ukraine.

🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

It’s an interesting confluence of interests but this may be the biggest help to the push towards renewables out there, cheaper energy, help the planet and up yours to Putin all in one, Win, win, win.

Awesome. Get that all done in time to keep everyone alive and you'll make a fortune.

Though you have to be careful as most analysts think at best half the forces on the border of Ukraine have actually entered the territory.

In any case there is clearly little good faith in the negotiations as Kharkov is currently being slammed by rockets.

I read an article saying 2/3 of the original "allocation".

Given I recall 190k Russian troops on the border before this began - that would mean about 120k Russian troops in Ukraine.

I think there was reports of about 200k Ukraine troops (active personnel) but then add all the reserves and males of suitable age not allowed to leave Ukraine, some of them would pick up arms to fight.
