Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

And just like that he’s gone again. It was a bit more complex than that with 2 x PCR tests after arrival and a third paid one to leave, plus a lot of lying low to avoid the Omicron wave. But it was totally fantastic to see Seat Son again now the borders are open again.

What SA is doing is just ridiculous with PCR testing and overseas arrivals. The requirement here is to arrive into SA and then isolate until you are tested. That's it, once tested you are free to roam. No need to see if it's negative. Son arrived to SA from UK late Friday night. He was symptomatic and in any case was tested Saturday morning. He later that day took a RAT. It was strongly positive. He isolated. Tuesday, today, he still has not got his PCR result. His partner has, it's negative. He could have been roaming freely in a community that is quite vulnerable. He didn't, he was responsible. How the heck can this be ok?

Everyone 12+ has had plenty of time to get vaccinated.

With all international arrivals needing to test negative on a pre-departure PCR the positive rate on arrival testing would be very low.

International arrivals make up a very small percentage of cases now. We have to learn to live with some risk.

An arrival RAT would make more sense than doing an arrival PCR with a lengthy wait for results.

Nevertheless, isolating until the result is received should be the rule. Definitely that would be more sensible.

I think in this present time, there will be those that are responsible (follow fair isolation - usually based on past directives/commonsense) and those that follow the law/loophole (which is less strict). With over 500,000 active cases in Australia - the restrictions are dialled way down.

Nope at least they weren’t last week.
I’d pick some up before you return. That’s what I will be doing.
Could be one way to fund future trips - if you have some empty luggage capacity. Modest mark-up (not HN standards) and help your local area gain access to RATs...

I will be bringing a lot home with me but I wouldn’t remotely consider selling them as I got them free of charge.

Landed yesterday into SYD with EY.
No tests were given.

Bought three RATs boxes before leaving Paris - glad I did that as I walked throughout Sydney this morning and could not find a chemist with a full box if I wanted one.
