Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Thanks. I've never really paid attention to Qantas vs QantasLink and others. Looking forward to actually being on a plane for the first time in more than two years!

You don’t need to pay any attention to the difference between QFd and QFLink :)
Have an amazing time on the flight.

I was stuck on the ground for about two months at the worst of the lockdowns and went crazy so two years is going to be really special for you - so enjoy! The 717 is an amazing ride too - my favourite domestic plane!

My status year ends tomorrow, and yesterday I booked a flight from MEL to HBA for March. I had a last minute moment of panic while reading the terms of the status extension offer. The flight I'm on is QF1559, which is operated by QantasLink. The terms say I'm eligible if I book "any Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number". Does this flight count? The PDF with my ticket details says "QF1559 Operated By SUBSIDIARY/FRANCHISE".
As the others have said, yes. I use a lot of QF Link flights out of Canberra, and the status credits all count. I also get the 'extra' credits on reward bookings through being a Points Club Member

I noticed these was mentioned up-thread

this is really flexible - bend over backwards Flexible

I am glad to see the free changes have been extended to April 2022. I have cancelled in the past with no problems at all, and am happy I can also now cancel LST-MEL, MEL-PER in March if necessary. (Not that it has anything to do with status extensions, except these will be the first flights of my new year.)

I will be extremely “glad to see” the further QF status extension move out by one or two months also (July 2022 anniversary date for me… ☹️) - if that happens….

As a July anniversary i am also wanting to see this happen, as am only able to squeeze in a couple of domestic flights no where near enough to requalify by 31 July.

I do wonder if any further extensions will occur. Lol I will definitely not have 1200 status by end of Oct 22.
Mind you Qantas premium economy and business class flights are a tad high at the moment

I think the next lot will be for the July-December folk. Having said that, I also think they will want more than the one flight. But I don't think we will hear anything for a month or two yet.

I’m far from convinced there will be further status extensions. Travel overseas is a little less convenient with COVID restrictions, but one can travel. QF needs to encourage people to book and fly not keep their money in their wallet.

If there is a DSC offer (e.g. early 2022) I could easily climb back to WP this membership year if I choose to only booking and taking one more international trip.

Unfortunately I am more and more convinced you're right. Being in Perth I will have had at least 1/3 of my membership year without my regular ability to travel interstate, and the first opening will be light on travel I assume.

Very unlikely to retain gold or even silver without assistance.

St Mark wants WA folk to spend their money in WA so you may need to do a few intrastate jaunts 😝
All seriousness though, yes I think there may have to be extensions as pretty harsh on folk like yourself

International borders opened November, so July, August, September and October anniversaries should get an extension. From Nov everyone has ability to do a full 12 months of travel to earn their status.

Rather than just 1 flight, happy if they make it 2 or a return flight.

Plus some of us were in lockdown for the first three months of the current (unextended) status year. Not to mention a shed load of cancelled travelled in the previous year that didn’t get to carry over…

don't take this the wrong way folks but... we've seen this angst before (and for the record I am an August anniversary) and ALWAYS (since this had to be a thing) QF has come to the party in the most generous of ways. Just because they have not announced anything yet in public doesn't mean it won't happen.

The "St Mark" situation is actually a factor in favour for many as frustrating as it has been, along with the relatively late opening of QLD borders (Dec 17).

I am just sitting back and waiting for the reaction in a few weeks/month or whatever time when it's announced.

I mean look back and similar "they won't do it..." threads have been going on since the first extension and they have. And honestly it would be fair to make it a full year's extensions.

but also.. you know what? if it doesn't happen (which I doubt) then.. I'll live. As will everyone.

So try and relax. :) QF will do whatever QF thinks will serve it best and I would put money on July-Dec extension.

My 47 cents worth. Happy New Year to all!

That's not accurate. Not everyone has had the ability to do a full 12 months of travel to earn their status. Folks in WA for the most part can't travel.
