Qantas to fly to Delhi from Sydney & Melbourne

Did they (the whole J cabin crew) sleep until you arrived at the gate in the spare J seats after collecting the first meal service. Yep that's ONE of the incidents I've had with them.

They adopted the Cathay Pacific approach to service - use the call bell for anything pax needed.

I have to say that the SYD-DEL flights for the first few weeks are very very full at the moment.
Yea … and I think during December the Y fares are going upto $5K. Not sure if anyone is purchasing those exorbitant Y fares. I know I won’t

There is a huge Indian population in Sydney, so even though not timed well for connections, dont think they will have too much trouble selling 3 flights a week to NSW residents looking to do family reunion, business and holiday trips.

Victoria has more Indians than NSW, concentrated in Greater Melbourne.

I just heard on ABC radio that Qantas were starting Melbourne - Delhi flights? Did I mishear?
I didn't hear the radio, but, if it were true, then it would further divide the market and eventually only one of the routes will exist.

You didn’t mishear.
From December 22nd QF are running 4x weekly MEL-DEL on the A330. Outbound via ADL, inbound direct. Has been talk of it happening for a while and QFi returning to ADL 🤣

Will be interesting to see how many board in ADL, the Indian population in SA have been quite excited at the prospect for some time
The wording on the media release is interesting: "Flights from Melbourne to Delhi will initially operate via Adelaide ..." (my emphasis). It would appear that this could be another pressure point on PER airport authority to get the issues their resolved and all west-bound LH using that hub again, in which case the SA Indian population would need to transit via PER both ways as opposed to via SYD/MEL on the return as they currently would need to.

Regards,

BD

Possibly, or they will switch it to non-stop once more 787s are available.
