PM's air rage

How about a collective noun - a coven of kevin kickers

I think a 'covet' of kevin-kickers might be more on the mark - who isn't jealous of someone who can take the BBJ anywhere he needs to be?

If the poor, delicate little flower whom Rudd 'upset' can't take the heat of dealing with demanding VIP passengers, then perhaps the RAAF needs to put her on garden patrol instead of in a full-on, front-line job.

Indeed, I'm sure there are a few corporals that have said some harsh words to her at sometime in training.

I don't think a junior cabin attendant would be in charge of ordering the catering for a flight. If Mr Rudd had a complaint to make about the wrong meals being loaded he should have at least made it the Senior Cabin Attendant so they could pass it on to the responsible managers.

Air rage? The PM apparently gets unreasonably upset and overacts to a service failure. He joins the 1000's of others who do the same thing in restaurants, shops, hotels and planes every day. Why, perish the thought, some of them even visit this forum and report their indignations. Yawn.

But then others often refer to them as DYKWIA.

Quite. Some even send streams of indignant emails to the airline in question, demanding compensation in the form of points, vouchers, etc.

Rudd is the CEO of a huge organisation with a mega-billion-dollar budget. It is not the sort of position that a meek, timid person even aspires to, let alone achieves. Being an ar*sehole isn't necessarily a prerequisite, but I'm shocked that anyone is shocked by the occasional tantrum/outburst/demonstration of bad attitude from a Prime Minister.

Well, not really thousands of others. The PM is, I guess, equivalent to being the chairman or maybe the CEO of the organisation that owns the airline. but with no ability to fire lower level functionaires.

I'm sure QF consider their CEO and board to be someones when compared to an ordinary DYKWIA pax.

Geez, some of the posts so far here shock me with what can be said about the leader of our country without being removed and warned by a mod, weasel, As$hole... come on, all I done was called a jurno an amoeba and got I in trouble...

1. On post, why did it take 3 months for the PM to appologise?

2. The catering people tried to contact the PM office 3 times including email & fax (radio news today)

3. This is not the first time he has abused staff (again radio news)

4. Love him or hate him, he has no right to abuse anyone - has he forgotten whom he works for?

The travel this PM takes is extraordinary. It would be interesting to compare say the last 5 PM's and their travel. Julia G has spent more time in the hot seat (or so it would seem) than Kev!

Maybe this was the pre-election buy off obtained between K & J... K travels, J leads (or at lease tries her hardest to unravel the fabric of this country)

Bring back Keating - at least he was an honest thief! (jk) ;)

I always thought a PM travelling was a sign they knew it was their last term.

What Mr Rudd needs is some balance in his life, and respect for other peoples life balances. Not everyone is a workaholic.

And it seems to me that perhaps some honesty about what is going on would not go astray - seems to me he has been caught out a couple of times denying things until absolute proof that it happened comes out.

Still while he's handing out wads of cash everyone will think he's a nice guy.

I saw this in the news and was under the impression he had apologised before, but it had again resurfaced and he had to apologies again.

I think the bottom line though is the cabin staff from the RAAF VIP wing are just cough. Serving the wrong drink, not having the right food on board (or even just one non-red-meat meal) and walking into his suite or in-on meetings. That's just sloppy.

Bottom line, he's just an every day guy. He's not above anyone, and he apologised, now it's up to the RAAF to train their staff a bit better.

I agree that this thread has been severely under moderated :!:

There are always two sides to a story and it's easy to be critical when the other side doesn't have and never will have an opportunity to defend themselves.
Bottom line, he's just an every day guy.
Kev would probably be insulted to be called an every day guy as he obviously sees himself as otherwise.
He's not above anyone, and he apologised, now it's up to the RAAF to train their staff a bit better.
A retorical question, because I already know the answer, but do you know anything about how the RAAF train their staff :?:

I don't think so - I think it is how he wants to be seen by Joe Public.

One wonders how this story got out though!

Perhaps Dave, or one of the other mods if he is not around, should re-read Dave's post 15 in this thread. What most of the posts have to do with ff travel is nil. I for one do not come here to read reactionary garbage, or any political stuff of whatever persuasion for that matter.

Thats a little unfair, there are many many many threads on this site that have nothing to do with ff travel.

The PM's actions as a traveller are under the microscope by those here. They make comments (some of which I agree need a mod's actions) however, we should never forget, we live in a country of free speech.

On that same note, no-one is forced to read posts here (except the mods) therefore, if you don't like where the thread is going, read another - such as I do and I am sure everyone else does.

Mr!

Meanwhile back on topic. . . I think that the chance of a flight attendant - especially on Air Force VIP duties - having choice over selection of the catering pre-flight on his/her own falls into the hugely, extremely, unlikely category. The armed services have a strict chain of command. Somewhere between the PM's office and the RAAF, the PM's preferences have not been conveyed. This could not be the fault of the FA.

It has been reported that the Prime Ministers office said no special meals were required:

ROYAL Australian Air Force officials called the Prime Minister's office three times before the infamous "meltdown flight" to see whether any special meals were required and were told none were needed, it emerged yesterday.

Indeed, there are many threads that have little to do with travel. They are often found in the Playground forum, not travel news. And I do not need to be reminded about free speech nor told not to read it if I don't like it.

Please note what I said..I said most of the posts have nothing to do with ff travel, not the subject matter of the OP. Hectoring about weasels, $900 payments and twenty other things here has nothing to do with travel. And all I merely point out is what the mod himself said.

There have indeed been reports in relation to this thread. For the time being it is being left as it is.

To quote from a reply given to one of our members from one of our moderators:

I know it's rhetorical, but I'm going to respond anyway.

Sorry if I got on anyone's nerves over my opinion, I should have realised that all the facts aren't available and prefaced it with IMO.

As a genuine question, how was this leaked (and I'm not even sure if it would be termed a leak) to the media. Someone on the plane spoke up, the PM said he was abusive or the RAAF said something? And I'm asking because depending on how this came out, they might have the rest of the details, so why aren't they available?

Anyway, end of the day, what I posed before was my opinion, sorry if I seemed to be talking about issues I know nothing about. All I have is here-say by a number of people passed on through the media.
