Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Unfortunately this is my last bottle.
I'm certain the wine still has a long way to go. Fruit forward, smooth as a baby's bottom, perfect with a BBQ lamb rack and then on it's own after. No tannins to speak of. I probably paid very little for this wine during the heyday of the Fo.View attachment 264421
I'm still hoarding my last bottle, its a lovely drop.

I’m thinking the latter.
What makes you think this? Has been interesting reading the reports, as I have the '19 but have held off on the '20.

Sounded like the latter had more purity going for it. Profiles sounded quite different as well.

Tyrrell's Stevens Sem '11 - super fresh, great acid and length and plenty left in the tank.
Mount Mary Triolet '05 - at or past it's prime, honey on the nose, balance and clean on the palate but fruit is fading.

PoCW Syrah '19 > Pyrette Shiraz '19 - the nose on the latter was very reductive. PoCW was really delightful, berries, hints of smokiness, fine tannins and great length.

Ruggabellus Sallio '19 - not sure what to make of this "benchmark" Aussie orange, it's distinctive, haven't figured out if it's my thing or not.

What a coincidence, I had a Sallio (2016) last night.

I’m still not sure if and how much I like it. At first I thought it was great, something different and refreshing but as I kept drinking I wasn’t sure how much I really enjoy this style of wine.

My +1 was more decisive, she took one sip and immediately said no! You can go ahead and drink your hipster wine but I’m going to open something nice for myself 😅

Haha I was considering picking some of that up, but after tasting I am not so sure... I believe you have the much better vintage too.

I think it's a point of difference/interest - I also had it with food today and I think it's more of a food driven wine. If you are someone like MB I can see why something like this ticks your buckets, for someone like me this is pretty funky (though still clean).

My +1 smelt it and was like, it's reductive like the Pyrette (not really, it's just got a bit of funk on the nose too).

I actually don't mind sipping on the hipster wine this arvo :) What did she open?

The pick of the Dan's current chardy clearance.
A beautiful full bodied NZ drop, perfect for Melbourne's frustratingly cold spring.
Butterscotch, apricot jam, a touch of cinnamon, lovely mineralilty and refreshing acidity all perfectly measured.
Nothing short of outstanding QPR (especially on Dan's clearance).
Also tried 2016 vintage and it was a touch inferior but still highly enjoyable w signs of early secondary development of a more prominent spice. 2020 is next.

Quick hunter trip over the weekend. Only found a partial snapshop of the lineup.
The Thistledown Vagabond Grenache 2020 - fantastic. Had a 2010 Brokenwood Quail that popped when opened, suspected heat damage and got thrown down the drain. JJ Prums 2019 were delish, and the Juul blanc de blanc upper hunter sparkling was solid (for a hunter bubbles, but I don't think it was local grapes).
