Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Mr. Gutwein announced a couple of weeks ago he would present his border reopening plan this afternoon.
Wonder if there are some last minute changes.

Well things are moving with a rapid pace, states really don’t want to be left behind now (for too long)…

Normality still might have to wait that long....

A normal 350 can't do the job. They were ULR variants, though I didn't keep up on what the exact variation was.

It won't take all that much training for anyone on the 330 or 380. Normal delivery schedule for the ULR aircraft would easily be slow enough to allow the training necessary. coughpit is much the same as a 380, with two engines crossed out.

I didn't mean for SYD-JFK or LHR

I meant just to supplement the SYD/MEL/BNE-LAX / SYD-DFW / BNE-ORD runs etc.

Point was more to fill the long haul gap now with a side benefit of getting crews started on A350, not the other way around.

There are already some 787 that Boeing has made that QF can agree to take delivery of. QF can also give the green light to Boeing to proceed to make more at pretty much any time.

Leasing A350 aircraft on a short term basis would be costly and has the added complication of whether or not the seats are normal QF seats. I don't think QF would proceed with that idea.

The classic rewards released at start of these week indicated A380s on many US flights departing from next year - so they knew before today they were coming back online. I like the A380 so will be happy to fly on them again, especially as they were refurbing the premium classes.

Stacks more award seats just opened up today.

I'd like the A380 to return to QF9 and QF10, but it would seem that's never going to happen.

I think I'll be booking flights to LHR soon. Once QF and other airlines add more flights from MEL I'll see what's available.

Thanks will be doing more research tonight, I really wish I knew IF BNE-ORD was going to be revived

QF9 and QF10 (MEL - LHR via PER) was always a Dreamliner. A380 cant cover the distance PER-LHR

Time for Australia's internationally disgraceful travel ban -need permission to leave is abolished. There are howls in the USA associating Australia with the likes of North Korea, and former Soviet block glory days. Can I say NO other country in the world did this. And we were misled when 70% turned into 80%, and when it hits 90% in ACT and NSW - yes the immigration minister is a laughing stock. Adding fuel to the New peoples republic of Australia, was the extension to overseas residents. Shameful.

How about he beat NSW to the punch and say the Commonwealth will automatically lift this restriction for each state as/when they hit 90%, unless they specially request it be retained? Give international certainty. No might or maybe's or just in case wishy-washy-isms.
See Australians who live overseas may be unable to leave country if they return for visit

So are we to be concerned what the "howls' in yankville Association think of us in Australia?

Comparing Aus to the old soviet union & North Korea is just such rubbish, honestly. Back to social media please, twitter it up mate.

The testing will be an issue, especially for families.

When I head away in 2 weeks, I’ve got to budget on the following;

- Day 2 lateral flow test in UK
- Another one 48 hours before boarding my flight to Lisbon from London
- A PCR test 72 hours before boarding my Qantas flight home

That’s roughly 100GBP after I’ve sought out every promo code I could find. We’ll average it to $200aud and say we’re talking a family of 4, that’s $800 on testing alone.

Now I’m flying JAL so I don’t need a test departing Australia, however if Qantas do require this then there’s another $600 before even leaving Australia.

It’s enough to turn a lot of people off… so it can’t last (and that ignores the risk of “testing positive” down route)

More set to be announced from QF on international flights:

Dan Andrews just announced he has been on the phone with Alan Joyce this morning and Qantas will have some ‘exciting international announcements for Victoria’ very soon!

Exciting!!!

(Maybe QLD missed the call? 😂)

London and Singapore first off the ranks for MEL

Qantas restarts Melbourne-London, Melbourne-Singapore flights from November

Qantas has confirmed it will resume international flights out of Melbourne early next month as Victoria joins NSW in lifting all quarantine restrictions for vaccinated Australians.

The airline will shortly put tickets on sale for twice-weekly flights to London from Melbourne, with one stop in Darwin, starting November 6.

Qantas will then restart flights between Melbourne and Singapore from November 22, the group confirmed to this masthead.

More destinations are currently being scheduled, to be announced soon.

How long will the DRW stop over stay locked in given travel to SIN is now opening up?
A little while longer. Gunner knows he can't hold off much longer before opening. He is madly pressing vaccinations so they can as high as possible before he opens up. Crossed fingers for open by Christmas. France for me in February if no quarantine on return and reasonable priced return flights.

Australia is opening at a strong pace, and likely all states and territories will be open to each other and international travel with no quarantine by Christmas, with exception of the headstrong WA premier who might go to Easter 2022 before opening up.

It's not just the cost, it's the hassle and uncertainty.
I've no intention of flying anywhere that requires anything more than proof of vaccination.
It might be a long wait, but so be it.

Plus if you’re flying QF you’ll need one pre departing Australia (within 72 hours)

Oh yeah, definitely clear on the requirement within 72 hours prior to departure for a flight to Australia.

It’s just the press conference today indicated it would be required on departures from Australia too, rather than being based on the destination requirement (UK day 2 test, US pre-departure test etc.)
Australia joins the ranks of countries such as Guinea and Liberia, who also enforce the same money making requirement for outbound travel when inbound countries don't require it.

£12 Testing for All + £12 Testing for All (although I thought Portugal didn't require a test anymore if vaccinated) + £43 Randox = £67. Plus, prices are evolving a lot so may well be cheaper by then.

Did anyone pick up from Gutweins presser about Tassie and International? Can fully vaxxed Internationals transfer through MEL and land in Tassie with no quarantine?
