WA travel restrictions - Melb airport transit isn’t excluded as it is for other states.

What a schemozzle.. looking at a trip from clean, disease-free Tas to nearly equally clean WA. Not many choices on flts and many of them are transits thru Mel.

Thats alright, last time I checked Mel transit was OK for most other states - just don’t leave the airport between flights and it won’t affect yr quarantine status. Indeed, Tas Health will let you overnight at one of several Mel airport hotels without a problem.

But not WA - I looked right thru the WAHealth website without finding any ref to transits, and eventually phoned to be sure about coming thru Mel - eventually, after I asked and was put on hold, I was referred back to the same WA gov website to an FAQ page wherein it stated that Mel airport is part of Mel and thus high risk. What’s OK for the rest of the country doesn’t wash in WA. And their website is as clunky as hell too..

Yes, in the case of WA, they treat having been at the airport as having been in the state. Each state has it's own rules on this.

Sounds like airlines should be running "domestic" flights to connect via HBA to fan out to the country rather than through MEL....

I wouldn't mind betting that those allowances get revoked pretty soon. They survived the big Vic outbreak, but this is Delta all up the east coast, now.

Perhaps you can point to it - I was directed to an FAQ section, because I phoned to check, not having found any info elsewhere. Unlike Tas gov website where they make it plain:

Ugh. Please accept my apology. I totally got it wrong. WA doesn't specifically reference airports because the airport is just assumed to be part of the state. In my mind I was thinking of the SA website which is very clear on this stuff. Again...sorry for that.

Yes, transiting through a Victoria airport is considered being in Victoria.

Yes, to be found in FAQ's as I observed - question no. 10 or 12 or something ? Other states make it clear in the Big Print, per Tas gov in my earlier post.
