Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

No you are wrong - only a single care giver is permitted in a home in NSW.

I cant be that care giver because my Dad is the registered care giver, and that power legally only comes to me if he becomes incapacitated or dies, at which point the power of attorney appoints me as being able to make all health directives for my mother.

Visits are not considered care unless you are adminstering health care (medications, assisting with bathing or transporting the person to medical appointments). I have talked with NSW Health and the advice is visiting whilst it benefits mental health is not not care giving.

So dont lecture me about obeying the rules, when I have been 100% complying.

You telling me to go and give "care" in violation of the rules is actually encouraging me to break the law. You have absolutey no idea.
Do you truly believe the Police will throw the book at you and consider you to be flouting the rules for delivering groceries and distributing medication for your elderly parents, one of whom is suffering a very sadly debilitating illness and the other who is presumably of a similar age caring for her?

I agree with the other posters. I am sorry for your circumstances but from what we can glean from your posts there is plenty of latitude for you to provide care to your parents in their home within the rules.

If on the other hand this is a stunt to keep promoting the bizarre views on vaccine products you have, then that's up to you but a solution for your problem is there I would think.

As I stated care giving is allowed.

Can you imagine the rorting if just social visits were allowed?

That is not correct.

That assertion was made by a reporter this morning but Dr Chant claified that the infected worker contracted covid via their household (not at work) and then unknowingly worked in both the aged care ward and the renal ward (the lady who died was in for kidney issues). Dr Chant was clear the worker did not work in the covid weard, nor were there covid pateints being treated in the wards she worked in.

Why wasnt the patient vaccinated with at least one dose given their aged?
Thanks for clarifying. So I will clarify my statement then. The woman who died, was in hospital for a non related reason, contracted covid from a hospital worker. Aren't hospital workers tested regularly or in isolation if a family member tests positive? Was the hospital worker vaccinated?

News.com.au reports it as this.

"Dr Chant said she had acquired her infection inside Liverpool hospital, noting there had been a transmission within the health facility in Sydney’s outer southwest that impacted “many people” and was linked to an earlier death."

"My understanding is that they weren’t Covid patients put in that ward,” she said.

“We know, sadly, the lady was exposed by a health worker who worked across wards, the aged-care ward and the ward this woman was in.

“As indicated there are a large number of people impacted by that."

As far as the 60 year old not being vaccinated. If she was in hospital for kidney complications, and we don't know how long she'd been there nor how serious her issue was, getting immunised may well have been the last thing on her mind and those of her Doctors. The lady has died and not from her own lack of vaccination.

My prediction is all states and territories will be in Lockdown permanently by mid next month, and only exit will be minimum of early 2022 from vaccination levels being high enough to take off the Lockdown trigger.

As to fortress states of WA and TAS, in terms of Jurassic Park 'nature finds a way'.

Sorry to be so pessimistic. Government in their early 2021 thoughts - will not have to worry about letting COVID in when we open borders, it'll be all over our fine country.
Sorry I have to come to the defence of my home away from home Tasmania.it is a fortress State because it is an island.Only NSW amongst the States has put less restrictions on interstate visitors.Unfortunately the other States basically don't let their citizens visit NSW.
Tasmania only excludes visitors from areas that their Government locks down or who have visited Tier 1 exposure sites.
So all of Victoria now banned as a State wide lockdown.but for QLD only those 11 LGAs that have been locked down.Their map=

Note it still has a little white area for the ACT.

Exactly, I deliver groceries to my parents, medical supplies etc and also when required some physical tasks. Dad is too feeble to manage mum, and so that has often required myself or one of my siblings to attend to certain taks or medical appointments. While there one can also have some social interchange, but yes in lockdown one cannot linger or just "visit". When spread is rampant I will also not go within 5m of them when dropping off supplies and will normally stay outside.

My brother is different as his impairment is much greater.

Yes 👍🏻 is
The death announced this morning of a patient exposed to Covid whilst in hospital for other reasons is awful for the family. She was exposed to the virus from a health care worker who cared for both covid and non covid wards. Isn't this something that surely could have been avoided?
It was 3 staff and two wards. Vascular and Geriatric. Not related to a covid ward at all.

But all of NSW isn’t in lockdown but they can’t visit Tasmania?

And, except for Queensland, everywhere else treats the ACT as if it's part of NSW, and won't let us in either.

we don't know how long she'd been there

About a week if I recall correctly.

Valid questions I dont know, and think no one should be allowed to work in a hopistal in a patient facing role if not fully vacinated. Nursing staff in 1A have had vaccine access since February, and 1B since late March and are given booking prioity at hubs over general public. Simply no excuse to not be fully vaccinated by now.

Yes, because attending to cognitive health is just as important as giving someone a shower, and I never claimed otherwise. You just gave a lecture on care giving (despite me never mentionining being a care giver) which ironically comes up short if someone's physical health is stable but not their mental health.

When people with demmenture dont interact with people their conditions worsens rapidly.

Can you imagine the rorting if just social visits were allowed?

You fail to recognise that those inclined to flout the regulations are already doing so. Adding an allowance for fully vaccinated family members to visist other isolated fully vacicnated family members is no more or less likely to be rorted than the existing regulations but will alleviate much mental anguish for many without creating a greate risk of spread.

Do you truly believe the Police will throw the book at you and consider you to be flouting the rules for delivering groceries and distributing medication for your elderly parents, one of whom is suffering a very sadly debilitating illness and the other who is presumably of a similar age caring for her?

Yes because my Dad does their grocery shopping and buys and adminsters the medication (not to mention those deliveries can be done contactlessly).

I wouldnt be doing those things, I would be talking with my Mum and getting her to do puzzles etc to exercise her brain and give my Dad a break and NSW Health told me that doesnt qualify care giving.

Believe it or not no one on this forum has authority to approve my visit, I have contacted NSW Health and they have said no. I am today writing to Gladys calling for a rethink given our vacicnation status.

If on the other hand this is a stunt to keep promoting the bizarre views on vaccine products you have, then that's up to you but a solution for your problem is there I would think.

I find it bizare that you feel expecting eligible people to get vaccinated is a bizare view. I believe people should register to get the recomemnded vaccine for their cohort as soon they are eligible to do so, then keep that appointment and actually get jabbed. Making endless excuses for why people arent doing that is far more bizare imo.

Opting for the recommended vaccine is far more prudent, than taking AZ when Pfizer is available to you and has a shorter time to full vaccination.

With all the chatter about caring, here is the NSW website on caring

Other reasonable excuses

It is also considered a reasonable excuse to leave your home if you need to

...
  • provide care or assistance (including personal care) to a vulnerable person or to provide emergency assistance
    • only 1 person may visit a residence to provide care at any one time

...

Caring and compassionate visits

You are allowed to visit a home – and have a person visit your home – for caring and compassionate reasons including
  • providing care to vulnerable people
  • visiting a person you are in a relationship with but do not live with.
Only one person may visit a place of residence at any one time to
  • fulfil carers’ responsibilities
  • provide care or assistance to vulnerable people and/or
  • for compassionate reasons.
You may bring a dependent child with you, if they need supervision and childcare arrangements are not reasonably available.

When visiting, you may be asked to provide information to NSW Police about your visit.

But all of NSW isn’t in lockdown but they can’t visit Tasmania?
That is correct. I live in Tasmania but if I go to regional NSW, I cannot return unless I apply each time as an Essential Traveller. I haven't applied recently but previously they wouldn't accept any paper-work over fourteen days old and I had to re-apply each time.
If accepted as an Essential Traveller, I could return to Tasmania but only if I undergo Hotel Quarantine for fourteen days, at my expense.
In contrast, I am approved as an Essential Traveller in SA. I have a permit that they renew every six months. If I were in SA, I could visit NSW and return home to self isolate.
My feeling is that Tasmania is making a political point about NSW's lack of protection of the regional areas.

Has something happened yesterday in WA? Our SA Health has just gone all twitchy again with an exposure site updated today for last Monday.

'Traces' found in the wastewater at Broome. No positive results as yet. To quote - "the WA Health Department labelled the wastewater result “unexpected” but stressed it “does not necessarily indicate there is a positive case in the community”.

So far all of the FIFO workers close and casual contacts tested have recorded negative results with close to 300 already cleared. Also - "Fortescue Metals Group, which operates Cloudbreak, had also conducted “thousands” of rapid antigen tests on mine workers that had not detected any additional cases."

ABC.com.au has a story on this lady and she had been in hospital for 45 days. Getting vaccinated was simply not on her radar.
Ch9 story on this said she hadn’t been vaccinated as she was concerned about a clot.
Another victim of the poor Govt messaging and overemphasized media coverage of the risks of AZ.

Another case has surfaced who has been at a school in Tarneit in July.

The Islamic College of Melbourne has close to 1,500 students from foundation to Year 12 with more than 135 staff.

And infectious period is not given, which suggests that the case is an asymptomatic one. Perhaps linked to the person that the visited the two Tier 2 sites shown below.

The school is in Tarneit, and also just added to the exposure list are these two sites also in Tarneit.

Note that two days ago the same school sent out this letter stating no cases at the school, but an exposure risk link to the Al Taqwa Teacher:
