I’m not a huge Hilton fan to be honest find them bland and boring in general, but the staff at this one were some of the best I’ve had ever had, quite a few were Australian which was lovely to see on our long trip over here.

Buffet was limited and you had to order and follow the staff member around which was funny but sufficient.

We had quite a few tricky over and above requests that the hotel management dealt with ease and with a smile, we tipped big at the end and would 100% recommend this hotel for AFF members when next in YVR. Great location and the suite we had was recently refurnished as well.

Hilton is a business hotel chain. For some reason they've got a reputation in Australia has being a glamorous luxury chain. Anyone who've stayed in their North American properties will know this is not the case.

They're not bad, they're quite affordable and perfect for a business traveller. But if you are expecting a luxury resort you're going to be disappointed.

I like Hilton, but I know what they are and I'm comfortable with that.

An okay rather than great stay. The hotel was busy, the check-in said local vouchers were doing wonders for business. Upgraded two room categories. Lounge not open, vouchers were given for drinks and "canapes" in lobby lounge - that was a very 5/10 experience - minature bottles of Grant Burge and three things to nibble on. Ended up going to Vintage Cellars next door and Hong Fat for some BBQ duck.

Breakfast the next morning in the restaurant. Staff assisted buffet. The usual scaled back buffet dried out bacon kind of thing, terrible coffee in takeaway cups. Fairly underwhelming really.

Nice room. Cosy on a dark and wet winter's night in Adelaide. A proper coffee machine would go a long way.

I generally like this hotel but feel all the COVID inspired cutbacks are more about cost savings than good hygiene. I guess that's not restricted to this hotel though.

Might be time to try the new Crowne Plaza when next in town

Property: Hilton Brisbane
Room booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Rate: $216
Received: Upgrade to King Hilton Deluxe (high floor), obligatory 2 free water bottles per day. 3PM late check out. Lounge closed but lobby drink voucher given (can't be used on spirits though).

Overall good service, just like pre covid. (I've noticed a reduction in service quality at other properties since start of covid so was expecting the same)

Agreed. Especially no more Foxtel.

Yep, I commented on this during my last stay. FTA is terrible and just wanted to kick back and watch the footy whilst my wife was at work. Had Chromecast at least so I could stream my Foxtel on it but still pretty poor IMO

Also had an average experience there and we also had items from our room stolen. Haven’t stayed since.
Many thanks for your input and others on here. We are heading back to Queenstown in October potentially and we’re tossing up between this property for something different or sticking to the Sofitel which was fantastic. Sounds like a easy choice

Hi everyone. Looking at Perth Hilton’s. Parmelia upgrade noted. North bridge centre of the entertainment area and looks good but any thoughts/experiences with the Waterfront one? Thanks

I have a feeling the DT waterfront is the old Hilton Perth - but could be wrong.

Waterfront would by far have the best views. I think the high floors at the DT Northbridge would have decent views too but not as good (you're not on the river). Perth is pretty walkable anyway and in the grand scheme of things they're all within a 15 minute walk of each other (being generous with walking time).

The main downsides I see of the waterfront is parking. Not sure if they have valet parking, but I think they use a parking lot that isn't exactly right next door kind of thing. Look into this if it's important to you.

If you're choosing one for work, I'd just go with whatever is convenient location wise (or rate wise).

What factors are important to you?

Not correct. It's a brand new building right on Barrack St Jetty, but the Bell Tower (and Ritz Carlton and Elizabeth Quay).

Will need parking Daver6

DT Waterfront will have some option, but just investigate whether it's acceptable to you or not.

Parmelia doesn't have their own parking garage either, but there are plenty nearby. Pre-booking parking can also save you some money there.

Parking garage? What sort of imported lingo is this? :)

I recall that the DT Waterfront is/was to have an EL. Although I haven’t seen any recent reports about this.

I don't think any of the Hilton properties have a parking so to say; however, DT Northbridge and Waterfront have made deals with parking spot (I think both are CPP) for a 'daily' rate instead.

Parmelia has made a similar agreement (maybe Wilson?) and offers valet parking.

EL available in DT Waterfront & Parmelia - but not the DT Northbridge.
