Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

Second AZ just done and in waiting room right now. Big shout out to @drron for going above and beyond and reaching up to the top šŸ˜‰ because after my first dose, ATAGI outlined that AZ was contraindicated for one of two auto immune blood clotting conditions and of course, I have one of them as does my 35 year old niece who also had AZ.

The evidence thus far is that the first dose will tell the story and Iā€™d already been through that. So onwards to the second dose today.

Going to be watching out for signs but really just glad itā€™s over. Long queue at the clinic and full of oldies so perhaps the reticence isnā€™t as much as the media is promoting.

Read an announcement this morning that it was being rolled out in next few days but itā€™s already available it seems.

Was all over the news this morning that it launches today.

I guess SA news is behind the times. šŸ˜‚

Anyway I was impressed it was all done within 30 minutes of having the second dose.šŸ˜‰

Australians to get Covid-19 vaccination certificate

A Covid-19 vaccination certificate is set to be rolled out within days, with authorities hoping the move will incentivise Aussies desperately wanting to travel.

Certainly no need to worry about a ā€œcardā€, as already posted above. Medicare account>Immunisation history>COVID-19 digital certificate. My vax details were updated in the Medicare account on the same day as the jab (AZ, at 11 weeks after the 1st), on Monday of this week.

And no symptoms to complain about, as yet.

What? The Advertiser is now paywalled? šŸ¤£
Yeah. Annoying huh. I sign up for the $4 a month offer for three months then cancel it. Wait for a month or so then resign. The bit I posted was the relevant part.

Think my second jab today was a placebo

An interesting talk with the young woman who arranges things for my locums. She got her first Pfizer jab today although only 30.I was able to get it because my mother is a nurse in charge of an ICU.I just left out the part that the ICU is in London.
She is another who is desperate for borders to open up as she has not seen her family for nearly 4 years.
'I applauded her initiative.

Following on from my Pfizer No.1 shot, I had my Pfizer No.2 shot on Tuesday 08/06.

On Tuesday 08/06 I woke up at 8am and took 2x Panadol and then at 10am I had my Pfizer No.2 shot. I then took Panadol at 12n and four hourly after that until I went to bed when I took my last set of Panadol. Woke up the next morning feeling fine with no side effects. If it wasn't for a sore arm from the injection site, I wouldn't have known that I had anything done.

Hopefully everyone has a good experience with their vaccinations.

Why all the Panadol? Paracetamol is largely a placebo, none of the information Ive received re my Pfizer appointment recommends taking paracetamol before the vaccination?

A couple of friends have experienced head aches and slight fever after Pfizer No.2.

Another GP friend of mine did the Panadol regimen and was fine.

Whilst I'm not saying that the Panadol regimen is the magic cure, I felt that there was no downside to it so I decided that it was something that I would do.

Attended the Sydney Olympic Park NSW Government Vaccination Site today
Appointment for 12 noon today made on line a week ago, no problem.
Turned up 25 minutes early and ushered straight into the building to sign in and wait in the waiting area. Only 3 other people waiting.
About 5 minutes later I was called. All details verified and no explanation of side effects for the AZ jab, just the standard questions related to health, medications, other vaccines in the last two weeks etc.
AZ (first) jab received and then wait in the departure lounge (if only !!) for 15 minutes.
Very efficient but if you were getting the Pfizer jab there were three clinics over two floors overflowing with people keen to get their jab.
Painless so far.
First time being over 50 was an advantage.

Huge demand at Olympic Park for Pfizer, friend tried to book today, couldn't get a booking until October! They need to start opening weekends there, or add another Pfizer clinic in the city / inner west.

Panadol did the trick for me when I had muscle aches about four days after AZ last time.

I had my second Pfizer dose last week. Apart from a slightly sore arm I was a little tired and had an afternoon nap the next day. At one stage I woke and was sweating. I went back to sleep and didn't notice anything unusual after that.

We went to Sydney Olympic Park. The teens and my eldest daughter all had their first Pfizer shot.
Absolutely impressive set up. Easy to check-in with the QR codes.

Our RN was surprised and delighted to be vaccinating a 16 year old, she had never done someone that young before and had to check with her manager that it was ok.

Feeling so grateful and excited that in just over 3 weeks my entire family will have been fully vaccinated !!!
Bring it on!!! (Except for more of the 3 hour drive that was the trip home in the holiday traffic šŸ¤£)

Same as QF029, second Pfizer jab yesterday morning.
Sore arm and tired, have had a few naps since.
Medicare app already updated this morning.

Mr Seat 0A decided today that he would like to get his AZ. I looked on line and got him an appointment at a GP respiratory clinic - tomorrow! Thatā€™s quick as. I will get mine in 2 weeks to allow the wait time from flu vax and allergy shots. Itā€™s tricky to time them all.

Note that the wait time has now been reduced from 14 days to 7 days.

This was in an email sent to me today from the clinic that I had attended.
