Could be this?

Matches the JH96, and top of bottle in the picture is the same colour.
Question - if you purchase, will you ever at least find out the vintage? Seems a great deal if it is in fact this wine but would like to know for sure what it is and what vintage.

the sms said over 50% off. Signature is $65 on its website, that will be near 70% off, I guess it is FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, %50, or
old vintage of Barossa Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon $28.

If you Google the first few words you find this listing by GWD on Catch with the following notes

Tasting Notes
A classic Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The colour is dense red and the aromas are seamless with ripe floral aromatics, red currants, cedar and plum. Rich and dense palate with more exotic floral notes, plum, cranberry and a serious tannin profile which is in a word is precise in terms of balancing fruit. Will drink well now and for the next decade or more.

Technical Notes
A moderate winter led into a warm, dry spring giving a somewhat sedate start to the growing season. This weather continued into summer until the end of January when 25mm of rain fell. The rain was welcomed and gave the vines the drink they needed to finish off ripening the grapes. The warm days during summer and autumn were mediated by cool nights, leading to great concentration and length of flavour.

I can't find a direct match for the tasting notes but the technical notes appear on several 2016 Yalumba wines eg Octavius and Signature Cab/Shiraz

I’m in for 6.
Can confirm on the invoice it’s “Barossa Est 1849 Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2016”

Even if the lesser FDR1A the style and price point is right in my wheelhouse.
Reckon there’s any chance they’ll reveal to me what it is once I’ve received it (and the deal is over)?

Good find. It looks more likely Barossa Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon $28, current vintage is 2018, so 2016 can be sell for $33, which make it 50% off. FDR1A is still over 50%.

There is no 2016 Barossa Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon (the white label screw cap) on their website. I am leaning towards The Signature based on similarities in tasting notes and the bottle image

I can't seem to find a base level shiraz cabernet from 2016. I bought it. Will be measuring the cork when it comes.

You keep asking the same question here. The answer you've been told is get along to various tastings and find out what you like. No one is going to be able to tell you what you like :)

I realise your comments are intended as a "basic rule" but I think there is a bit if misinformation here.

Generally true, but there are starting to be some producers releasing quality wine under screw cap now. So be careful not to dismiss it immediately.

Absolutely not a guarantee of quality. There is plenty of swill being made there that has the appellation on the label.

Again, not quite correct. Taking Burgundy for example, just because the wine isn't village or vineyard level doesn't make it rubbish. Conversely there are plenty of Bourgogne that are better than village level wines.

Another example to muddy the waters would be Tetre Roteboeuf in St Emillion. A stunning wine that isn't even Grand Cru Classe. Why? Because the owner refuses to submit his wines. If he did its likely it would acheived Premier Grand Cru Classé 'B' or possibly 'A'.

French wine is clear as mud. Every region uses a different classification system. Which leads back to the original advice. Go along to tastings!

Re-Screw cap: That is correct but still pretty rare from what I can see.

Re-appellation: That of course depends on appellations but I personally find little risk in going for a St Estèphe, a Margaux or any very famous appellations.

Re-Burgundy: That is true, I was just giving a quick introduction to reading a label and what I said is not 100% correct for every regions. Having said that, if there is a big 'BURGUNDY PINOT NOIR' on the label it is not a very good sign...

Re-Grand Cru: I didn't talk about Grand Cru Classé as it is anyway a bit of a bullshit. Only talking about appellations and as far as I know Tetre Roteboeuf have the St Emilion appellation...

Re-tasting: Definitely!

GWD usually do show the real bottle in these deals, even when they don’t name the wine (and sometimes blur out the image).
The bottle top definitely matches the signature.

If it is the Signature (and I can safely ascertain this), I’ll be very happy...and also disappointed I didn’t buy more

"Delablled By Winery To Protect Discounted Pricing" ... hmmmm

Makes sense if the wine is something like the Signature. And if they're smart about it, they'd collect all the orders first and only de-label the number sold.
