Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

It is and has never been up to the public to accept the risk level. No choice. Protecting the vulnerable kind of disappeared months ago once the curve was smashed.

The curve might be smashed, but many agree that it's a good dose of luck that the latest outbreaks haven't entered aged care. So I think protecting the vulnerable is still the key.

So far the various state governments seem to have their finger on the pulse of public sentiment... which we've seen through election results and opinion polls. I don't see a reason that will change.

Well interestingly about 1700 people in QLD have been directed into isolation (I think it was 7000 in NSW? Can’t remember)

Calls into radio this morning from people in QLD and NSW indicates perhaps that a bunch of them aren’t bothering...

I wonder if all of this is beginning to wear too thin on people...

I just feel that we’ve begun to lose support for all of this in the public...

They need to get that vaccine going....

I have younger UK friends on my Instafeed and they post their joy and relief with pictures as their parents (currently those in their 70's) walk out of the vaccination centres having had their jab. It has been interesting to see how happy the younger generation are to see their parents protected.

That was also denied yesterday. He said she said.
Ok. I thought the he said she said was more in reference to the nebuliser. Media reports didn’t really focus on the testing aspect. I guess I’m mistaken

It was not denied at all.

She said, and I quote, "I would have to get back to you on that"

Later she was asked if someone who requested a test due to symptoms would receive one or be told to wait, she confirmed that she expected that anyone requesting a test due to being symptomatic would be tested.
Oops ok.

It is becoming clearer by the day, if not already, that the Victorian contact tracing system is in shambles despite DA's boast the other day...

I heard NSW is trying to contact 7000 people? I don’t know the number in Victoria, but i’d say it’s near i possible to contact that many people in a day? Shambles or an impossible task?

Yesterday it was reported that SA were contact tracers were tracking 25,000

Mind boggling! I understand the interviews take some time? Maybe they're just sending a text?
Usually text but given they have everyone's details to get into the state through the permit then I don't understand why it just can't be a broadcast one to everyone. When you rock up for a Covid test they ask if you are responding to an SA Health text and then you are prioritised for testing.

The press conference said the worker tested negative on Sunday but on review after they were found to be positive on Wednesday, the Sunday sample was actually a weak positive?

Vic press conference now on. Positive Quarantine Worker went to the Coburg function with 38 people! If you can’t trust quarantine workers to stick to the 15 people limit, what hope have we got!

That the 15 people limit, introduced on 4th February 2021, did not apply to "restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars" and not even to "venues"?

A two-square-metre rule applied:

"They are open for seated and unseated service, must use electronic record-keeping and apply the two-square-metre rule.
There are no other limits on the number of customers."

Holiday Inn cluster grows to 16

Health Minister Martin Foley is speaking now.

"In regards to the Holiday Inn update, the two new positive cases that we are reporting today are both linked to the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport, bringing the total number of linked cases in that cluster to 16.

"The two most recent cases are a child and a woman, both who attended a private dining venue in Sydney Road Coberg on the night of February 6. They are from separate households. Both have been in isolation since February 12."
