The world is turning mad:

Any idea how many cases of coronavirus today in Queensland.
One.

Given the federal government & health experts are now concerned, I don't really have so much of a problem. But we have to find a better way than instant lockdowns. It just draws people, no matter what they are told, straight in to crowded indoor environments - like - you know - supermarkets....

Here we go again, the need to protect my citizens from the great unwashed (everybody else).
At least an action like that seems to abide the constitution.

Though I'd like to know who decided to turn the plane around. States surely have no jurisdiction when it comes to refusing an aircraft.

Speeding up the vax roll-out. ASAP. How about that? 😀

I actually cannot keep track of all the border restrictions but as I and my team travel domestically almost 52 weeks of the year I have to try and it is just mind boggling......

I think I've mentioned here before we have temporarily closed our PER office and servicing it out of our MEL ops directly because of the WA government ridiculous border warfare....

NSW: Will remain open for

Not sure why you keep misreporting this, NSW Border remains open to Queensland but anyone who has been in Greater Brisbane since 2nd Jan who is now in NSW has to self isolate exactly the same as they would if they were in Brisbane for hext 3 days, and get tested.

People planning to drive from other parts of Qld to NSW have been told to bring proof they haven't been in greater Brisbane since 2nd Jan and all arriving Queensland flights (from any Qld airport not just BNE) are being vetted on arrival at SYD.

Greater Brisbane have been asked to comply with their ownstates rules and stay home, NSW residents can return but must self isolate.

All of this was covered in the 11am presser, hours before ACT decided on effectively the same course of action.

Yup so the 'border' is still open v other states that have either closed completely or with mandatory hotel quarantine (effectively closed as no one will do it)
Read into it anyway that makes you feel happy, doesn't bother me :)

Probably because they are out trying to buy masks, because we have not needed them until 6pm tonight

We are in a pandemic, recommendation nationally has been to have mask at hand whenever indoors and cannot social distance which is anytime you go to supermarket or catch public transport. Most people bought masks during march/april lockdown, looks like Queenslanders have largely not been taking covid seriously.

Masks may only be mandated from 6pm tonight but anyone following health advice would have had them long ago.

PM supports QLD lock-down. Praises the wise decision by the QLD government.

I was listening to the PM & more so the Commonwealth CMO. The undertone I got was they really are afraid that the new strain is much more infectious and given there is no international experience to draw on...I think they basically want to find out for themselves.

We need the vax.
No, we need sanity to begin to prevail within our state governments. Don't hold your breath.

Except NSW restrictions are identical to ACT both requiring self iso, neither require mandatory hotel quarantine, unclear on your motivation to make it seem like NSW has no restrictions, yet highlight that ACT is doing something.

The restrictions have no impact on me as i have no need to go the Qld but want to make sure people are not mislead by your post and think Brisbanites can freely come to NSW when they cant.

Which state will be first of the mark to demand interstate arrivals have been vaccinated?

That will be beginning of the end. Then no jab no school, no jab no dinner reservations, no jab no Adventure World, no jab no Royal Show, no jab no Woolworths, no jab no Train/Bus/Taxi?

I wonder if there were any returning NT residents on the Jetstar flight. If so were they allowed to stay or were they sent back to Brisbane as well?

If this was say a BNE-AYQ-BNE regular service would be interesting if they let off any locals and then added anyone who was meant to be on the flight home.

Just ridiculous.

Obviously the panic buttons weren't put far enough away from the premiers.

The US and UK have gone one way and Australia/NZ have gone in the opposite direction, no middle ground.

Indoor areas and confined spaces masks should have been worn.

Work places where you are seeing large numbers of customers should have been wearing masks.

I wonder if the pubs in Brisbane are allowing customers to drink until 6:00pm, thinking of going for one last drink before going home after work.

For over 8 months now I have had 2 masks in a ziploc plastic bag in my handbag, I have 2 masks in the glove box of the car. I have always been ready to mask up 😷😷

Masks are interesting, visit to bunnings , the fish shop , and the produce store this arvo
Bunnings was steady , not busy, hardly a mask to be seen and only a few staff wearing them.
Fish shop was.. like masks .. what are they ??
Produce was better .. all staff masked but still not a masked customer to be seen.
So I did not wear a mask either although I had one.
My perception is that our risk is still quite low in the eastern bayside regions of paradise.
That may all change tomorrow.. time will tell
