UPDATE:

SA closes border to Greater Brisbane, joining NT, TAS.

Border update for Brisbanites:

TAS: CLOSED (hotel quarantine if you try to visit from Brisbane and retrospective to Jan 2)
NSW: Will remain open for now
VIC: Update in next few hours
ACT: Likely to copy NSW
SA: CLOSED (hotel quarantine if you try to visit, if you have arrived from Jan 2 must get tested)
NT: CLOSED (hotel quarantine if you try to visit)
WA: Still asleep, dreaming of March

And WA wakes up, too hard and complicated for poor old WA to do greater Brisbane so just kicks all of QLD out.

Yes I got it hot off the presses just after one pm as a WA client rang to say he may have to pull out of Feb now. :(

So sorry to hear, hard border with all of QLD is a bit trigger happy, but March looms and that is on their mind.....

Being in WA right now I can tell you that Perth is even more relaxed than Brisbane with sloppy covidsafe measures..... its incredible.... if they had an outbreak here they would be finished!

Can't see ACT copying NSW, given ACT currently have restrictions to NSW residents.

Which is why I always take due care, keep my distance, don’t queue, etc. Look after yourself and your family even if others aren’t distancing. Even though a staunch Western Australian, I do think banning all Queenslanders is a bit rough. But we have heard so often about travellers lying about where they have been, therefore the innocent suffer as well.

Qantas insist on masks on all flights and in lounges and remind passengers to wear their mask in the airport (all airports). Obviously other carriers haven’t been doing this.

It’s an ever changing scenario. I will still be going to Melbourne at the end of the month, but am fully prepared to have to self-iso late at home again upon return. 😞

ACT institutes travel restrictions on Greater Brisbane

ACT residents who have been in Greater Brisbane since January 2 must self-isolate for 14 days from the time they were last in the area.

ACT residents still in Greater Brisbane have been told to follow Queensland Health advice and remain there until the end of the lockdown period unless it is absolutely necessary to return to the ACT.

If residents return to the ACT, they will need to fill out a declaration form before travelling and quarantine upon return.

I haven't seen an update for Sydney recently but am I correct in thinking that NSW residents are banned from all states? I have lost track.

Travelling to Queensland

Most people can travel freely to Queensland unless they have been in a COVID-19 hotspot or in any part of New South Wales.

Road border checkpoints are in place, and border passes are required for anyone entering Queensland from New South Wales.

There are restrictions and requirement for anyone who has been in a hotspot, New South Wales or overseas (excluding New Zealand) that wants to travel to Queensland.

If you have been in Victoria in the last 14 days, you should get tested immediately and quarantine at home or your accommodation until receiving a negative COVID-19 test result.

Find out more about changes to border restrictions and requirements for travelling.

For Tas, its selective. Northern Beaches 'high risk' (no entry without exemption), Greater Sydney and Wollongong 'medium risk' (enter with quarantine), the rest - feel free. There may be some high risk localities outside the Northern beaches.

Pretty much yes.... This page is actually quite useful and is updated frequently if this helps.

Although VIC have flagged reopening next week to NSW (unsure though if NSW remains open to QLD though with the MUTANT strain might change their mind)... sigh.

Didn’t she catch several forms of PT, perhaps some of those have come forward?
Large family, shopping etc all could contribute
From my recollection of the information presented in the news media yesterday, she caught the train to and from work on the day she worked at the hotel. So if she caught the virus during the shift at the hotel (as seems to be the case) then she was certainly not contagious on the train trip to work, and most unlikely to be contagious on the way home from that shift. The shopping over the next few days is a different story.

Probably because they are out trying to buy masks, because we have not needed them until 6pm tonight.

Never mandated in Tas, but there is a packet of surgicals, and a packet of N95s (bought in February when I went overseas) in the cupboard. Go figure. :)

Jetstar flight from Brisbane to the Northern Territory turned around

A Jetstar flight from Brisbane turned around immediately after landing in the Northern Territory, as the government announced mandatory quarantine for anyone travelling from Queensland's COVID-19 hotspots.

Ms Manison said a Jetstar flight from Brisbane that landed in the town of Yulara, in the territory's south, about 9.30am had immediately turned around and returned the passengers to Queensland.

“I know this is very difficult for those people who are impacted, and will be impacted, I thank them for their patience and their understanding.

“But I’ve got to stress, this is about keeping Territorians safe.”

Final state announcement with VIC not shutting yet, just monitoring like NSW.

I suspect there will be a flood of people trying to get back to NSW and VIC from QLD despite both states telling people to stay put....

Victorians in Brisbane urged to stay put until Monday

The Victorian government has advised anyone who has returned from Greater Brisbane since January 2 to get tested and remain isolated at home or in accommodation until Monday, "when a further assessment will be made".

All Victorians in these areas are advised to follow the guidance of the Queensland Government and any Victorian with plans to travel to these areas should cancel them.

In fairness, this plane does have a tendency of landing in “Yularu” (wonder if this report knows that’s ayres rock airport...) then turning around and returning to Brisbane.
