Qantas Points Club Discussion

I didn't realise as a Gold that I wouldnt get the lounge passes, while I dont need them it would have been nice to give to friends.

It's quite silly that from a lounge benefit perspective, the lower Points Club tier offers more to SG/WP/P1 QFF members than Points Club Plus.

I wish they'd structured the benefit (for PC+) so one can build up a backlog of QC memberships which kick in if you ever drop from SG, similar to the way an existing QC membership does if you reach SG mid year.

Different markets? Points club is for frequent spenders, not flyers.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Those aren't mutually exclusive though - Points Club should incentivise spending on the ground regardless of how frequently one flies.

It does for most things - like earning SCs on award flights. That's over and above BIS status.

As for the two passes... that's easy - spend just $349,000 :)

Is Points Club + worth chasing for annual lounge benefit?

Currently contemplating a new CC, rejected & bad service with St George back in January, only option with big sign up is NAB Qantas Signature.

Being only a leisure traveller with no QF status based in Perth, would you chase Points Club + solely for lounge access?

Want to plan for multiple holidays in 2021 and would love to focus on Krisflyer but overseas restrictions still likely into new year!

Partner has Amex Platinum with Virgin Lounge access but unsure on where this stands and QF has more lounges in regional destinations within WA ( If I choose to use points for WA flights & see Karratha, Broome, Kal )

With 118,000 points to go before end of December, would one pay $295 for the NAB card to obtain 100k bonus and ensure they earned another 18k points to secure years worth of QF lounge access?

I personally would go for it. You need a new credit card. I’m sure you will find 18k buy the end of the year - a combination of utilities, woolies, wine, petrol, insurance, credit card spend, etc.

My only doubt is international travel in 2021. Get domestic lounge is ok, but international is better. At Points Club Plus, you also get SC on reward flights.

Beware the NAB card IMHO. Only card I've ever been rejected for, rejected because I didn't have a banking relationship with NAB. I assume there would be a more realistic reason than that (surely that is not it) but I would expect a bank to be able to articulate generally what the issue is and that was all they came up with. There's a few threads on the NAB offer if you are interested, others also had similar experiences.

I am on track to retain Points Club Plus, but........ the refund of a cancelled flight is due very soon and that will wipe all my current points out! I like P.C. Plus for the 100SC rollover, which could come in very handy next year. Not spending on travel and tours is really reducing my spend. Que sera, sera.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Will cancel the ANZ Platinum before applying...

As a self funded traveller & seeking aspirational trips next year, it maybe worth tipping over to points club+ to access multiple lounges, perhaps a visit to the Red Centre to see the SQ A380’s parked up and visit to the new QF lounge.

With 2 council rates & the other costs as you outlined there will be no problems for the extra 18k.

Points Club was introduced at a good time it seems as it’s keeping us interacting with QFF.

Approved this week. Conditionally Wednesday. Confirmed after a call Thursday.
Minor hiccup. Had multiple cards with them before, but went through as a new customer, so I had to walk some ID around to the branch at lunch time. Everything else was painless.

I don't know if anyone else was wondering but the discount you get for being Qantas Points Club or Points Club Plus at the Qantas Store DOES NOT stack with anything that is on sale.

Just dropping a data point - the 100 SC rollover posted for me today, 1.5 months after my anniversary.

As far as I know, Qantas hasn't clearly defined whether the rollover is dependent on exceeding the SC retain target (i.e. only "excess" SC rolls over, similar to rolling over prepaid credit or data quota) or whether all Points Club Plus members can carry up to 100 across. I didn't retain WP last year and got the full rollover, so it would appear to be the latter, unless the coronavirus extension is the reason I was eligible this year.

Not unexpectedly, the rollover didn't count to the lifetime SC or loyalty bonus tally ... was holding out hope the work experience team may have erred in my favour .. 🙃
