What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?
I would have been in Nouméa again, drinking champagne on the beach of Îlot Canard inbetween snorkelling sorties and watching the sunsets sipping coughtails with friends at the Chateau Royale before dinner at one of many amazing restaurants which cater more to locals than tourists.
On the bright side, I have a new dishwasher instead.
A year without travel is going to pay for a lot of home improvements.
None of them look quite this good, though or be this much fun

We would’ve Just landed in Tunis thanks to a Krisflyer redemption (still waiting on points and taxes refund from cancellation 5 weeks ago)
5 nights at La Badria before the end of this week flying to Porto, instead I’ll be at work tomorrow

Had you already applied for your visa? Interested to know how the process was, I looked at flying there late last year but it all just seemed so convoluted.

I would’ve been doing the last of packing for this Wernesday’s Virgin flight to Cairns to spend two months in Port Douglas, escaping Melbourne winter, followed by a SQ J flight to BCN in late July for a month in Spain and Portugal ... hopefully next year!

I would be planning a quick trip to LA cause of a friend nagging . Also be watching out for good flight specials to London in Sept to gatecrash a husband's holiday .

Today I was to fly CNS-BNE-SIN-CDG all done in business class and with points.

Will go to Dan Murphy's later to pick up what's needed for a Singapore Sling.

A little thought for when you do go again: Ever been up north in the Kanak region? The Eastern side is particularly beautiful, up towards Hienghène. I'd recommend hiring a car and going for a spin in a North-easterly direction (with a stop by Poé for lunch)!

Thanks and yes I have driven up to Hienghène and been diving there. The east coast is beautiful - more lush, wet tropical rainforest.
And not as many sharks as the east coast lagoon!
I had lunch at the Sheraton in Bourail on the recommendation of friends and then on to Koné and across.
Arrived just before complete darkness which was a relief as I know driving at night is unsafe as many locals drive at high speed with no lights.

I drove late at night once, up there. Quite the experience! Was late back from Mt. Panié.

Should be in Lviv today. Then we were going to a village near Ivano Frankivsk where my mother in law was born. From there we were going to Odessa and then Kiev.

Perhaps next year we can visit while mother-in-law law at age 88 is still going strong.
