Basically the VARA network, selected Qld regional cities from BNE, MEL-PER (only transcon), Golden Triangle, MEL-Canberra and SYD-Gold Coast.

SYD-MEL, SYD-BNE, MEL-BNE and MEL-PER are the only daily flights. Rest of the routes vary between 2-5x weekly.

Daily flights are actually

SYD-MEL-SYD
SYD-BNE-SYD
MEL-BNE-MEL
MEL-PER-MEL

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Interesting to see if there will be any reward seats for those worried about their points.

Seems odd to put on flights at 1845 today for flight tomorrow... How would they get anyone booking?

Is this how the Govt is keeping VA in the air and stop it from going belly up?

Seems wasteful for VA and QF/JQ if that's the case.

I think it comes down to the need to somehow allow the really small number of essential travellers to actually travel, rather than necessarily being financially viable. Much like some regional flights are underwritten.

No, this is different,

From what I read yesterday the airlines would not make any profit from the flights.

One would hope both airlines negotiated enough to cover the complete running costs (pro-rata) for the flights. While tiny in comparison the the overall bleed, that would at least lessen to some extent the dead expenditure for planes sitting on the ground

And you believe that 😳

That could possibly be good news for some on another thread anxious to utilise their Velocity points (if they need and are permitted to travel).
The risk of COVID with air travel still remains, we just had these cases on QF flight recently 😖

Stupid first-wold problem I know.... but looking at flying VA next week.... J is still at the same price as usual - is there any cabin service on board? Does anyone know? The website says that due to "safety concerns" nothing is available for purchase.... but since J is all-inclusive, does that mean we still get food/booze?

Obviously, if there is no catering, then there is no point in J, especially since they have said that they are blocking off all middle seats in Y anyway.....

just booked points flight yesterday for next week and return the following week for FIFO better half. Within the state. Able to use points no issue. Interestingly the flight only had 3 rows with no-one sitting in them! regional flight.
