Another loss to Flybuys:

We are writing to let you know about upcoming changes that will affect the way you use flybuys on eBay.

Our partnership with flybuys will come to an end on Wed, 6 May 2020. From then, you will no longer be able to collect flybuys points on your eBay purchases or redeem your flybuys points for eBay vouchers. You will not lose any flybuys points you have collected with eBay to date.

On the upside they offered me free eBay Plus for a year, not sure if this is a standard offer going around or only associated with Flybuys linked accounts.

So after the the huge issue with not having FB credited correctly its now being discontinued. I wonder if that was part of it.

I got the same email but I haven't received the free year offer.

Sad to see another partnership go.

Interesting that they offered you Flybuys Plus for a year. I thought they had discontinued that program. Do you have any more info about it?

I also received the email and the offer for eBay Plus free for 12 months. I don’t know much about the program, so will have to investigate this evening.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just this part of the message:

Not sure why they decided to include me and not others, I've spent less than $300 on eBay over the past year, only linked my Flybuys about 5 months ago.

Oh, so you currently don't have eBay Plus? Well that explains why i didn't get that email.

What a shame! I'll be promptly cancelling eBay plus now that there are really no benefits. I earned quite a few points through eBay in the last year.

Flybuys offers have really dried up in the last month. No decent offers on either of the accounts which is a bit of a kick in the balls considering how many customers are flying through the doors. Equivalent of 3 christmases altogether I've heard.

Ah, it's eBay Plus that they offered you (not Flybuys Plus). That makes more sense.

I went to cancel my membership and they offered me a $30 gift card (to be sent after I renew my membership this year). I didn't take it and haven't cancelled just yet. If a renewal is $49, then I'll only have paid $19 for the year?

Likewise, my eBay Plus automatically renewed recently and I'd hardly used it. Should have disabled the subscription when I signed up last year, but too late now. Got it for another year. My email suggested there would be new benefits coming soon to eBay Plus: including free express delivery in metro areas... though my experience with most companies has been that they don't count the Gold Coast as metro 🙄

Something I might get offered next year I guess.

Woolies offers have dried up also. Of course they'd both be mad to offer incentives while there is so much panic buying and hoarding. Most people would reach the targets easily, and it would cost them a fortune in handing out large slabs of points. Mores the pity as I could do with some big points offers right now to build up my balances ready for when we might be able to fly again.

eBay Plus = Waste of time and money.
If it’s free, take it and save $50 but benefits are very limited. I won’t be renewing.

It's a shame to see this come to an end. It was always good to get additional points in conjunction with the use of Velocity or Qantas e-store portals for ebay shopping.

I imagine ebay didn't see the value in paying the points to people, especially now that sales will drop off due to a global economic downturn. It will be interesting to see if ebay closes some of it's FF e-store portals.

I didnt get the ebay plus offer - prob dont spend enough, so they dont care

I'm an ebay plus member and didn't receive a free offer. I think people who either are not members or about to renew their membership may receive a free year as an incentive to potentially sign up to ebay plus in the future.
Going by other posts in this thread the free membership doesn't appear to be based on how much one spends with ebay. I've spend well over 1K with ebay in the last 12 months and been an ebay member since 2000.

I set a reminder for myself to cancel this year. Jumped through all the dark patterns and cancelled. then renewed. Just been sent my $30 gift card. I've set a reminder for next year too.

ebay plus has improved over the last year. Plenty of discounts (via ebay plus promo codes) and free express metro shipping if you purchase a product from an ebay plus store. Membership is actually worth it if you purchase many items from ebay. Suppose they had to act on the Amazon threat.
