There are a number of threads on AFF and it is hard to work out what is the current situation as I have not been paying too much attention during my SIN transits.

I am travelling SYD-SIN with QF on the Saturday and then SIN-BKK with CX on the Sunday and a friend is travelling SYD-SIN-BKK with SQ on the Sunday. I can buy a bottle of Vodka in SYD and then have it in my checked luggage for the trip to BKK but can he buy a bottle of vodka in SYD and have it in his carry-on for the SIN transit as long as the bag remains sealed?

Can you believe the lengths that some people go through to get 24 Amex MR points, 72 QFF points and a transaction in the current Amex promotion?

Thanks. It appears that is OK to purchase duty free in Australia and transit SIN to another destination but not the other way around.

Changi Airport said:
Passengers (*except those travelling to Australia, the US or on Northwest Airlines or United Airlines) will be allowed to bring liquids, aerosols and gels items in containers larger than 100ml onboard their flight if these items are placed in sealed tamper-evident bags with the receipt clearly displayed in the sealed bag.

As someone who transits SIN quite regularly, I don't believe this can be done. Any liquids over 100 ml will be confiscated on entry to the gate lounge.

Why doesn't your travelling associate just buy the duty free goods in SIN (it will probably be cheaper, too). Then no problem at all.

You can pick up at the gate lounge - that way you can get it onboard

I have done this a few times in SIN

Really? So the statement I quoted from the Changi Airport website about sealed tamper-evident bags is incorrect?

That is also a possibility although I was going to order and pay for it online and get an eligible Amex transaction in AUD....
