As part of the ADL terminal expansion project, a new, state-of-the-art Virgin Australia Lounge will open in April 2020. A Summer "Pop Up" lounge will be located near gates 15 - 16.

From Wednesday 26th February 2020, temporary lounge arrangements will include:
  • Access to the Summer Pop Up will be available up to 90 minutes prior to each VA operated flight departure.
  • NO Arrivals Access
  • NO Pass Access (including Single use, AMEX and charge card credit cards, Virgin Money, ANZ, and Westpac)
  • NO Access for Partner Airline Eligible Members
More here:

I was in the terminal for lunch today but didn’t bother to take any photos. The pop up lounge whilst seeing a decrease in size is still not bad for a temporary facility

Not bad for a Virgin facility or not bad compared to other Adelaide lounges?

It isn't Feb 26th yet, so is it open early or did you just view it under construction?

Flying out of ADL on Monday and curious if the old lounge will still be in operation.

Only viewed under construction.
I believe the old lounge will operate until close on the 25th. I’ve got a flight Sunday morning so I’ll check it out as I won’t have a chance to head in there tomorrow

As someone who has seen the construction drawings for the new lounge, the short term pain of this pop out lounge will be worth it. The new kitchen looks like it can cook some serious meals, the toilet block is approx 3 times the size of the current one an there is this decent sized section with not alot of detail but alot of partitions and air con vents

Is that code word for "...there are some showers"??!!

Nah, there are two shower rooms that back onto the mens toilets.

My guess for this undrawn area with a limited access corridor is either a crew room or a decent sized 'The Club'.

Yes, they are very discreet with what that area is.
Airport management are very good at keeping it under wraps unfortunately:D

Was in the lounge before my early flight to MEL this morning and the new lounge is on track to be opened second week of April. The pop up lounge will only have capacity for about 80 so aswell as the restrictions mentioned earlier there are a few others such as Platinums only being able to guest 2 and all lounge entrants must have an onward flight with VA. The 90 minute limit will be strictly enforced so if you arrive more than 90 minutes before your scheduled flight you will be denied access.
Tried to squeeze a little gossip from staff on the new lounge and an exact number wasn’t given but capacity will be double the old lounge so approx 350-400.
As mentioned above the kitchen area is massive and there will be several different areas with a “wellness” area with a water feature apparently. All in all the staff seemed very excited and it should be a great boost for ADL travellers. 5 weeks of pain will be more than worth it IMO

Old lounge is open now (I'm there) for the last day apparently... Staff seem to be looking forward to the new one so have probably seen it... Comment was 'bear with us' regarding the popup lounge so I would not expect much from that.

Staff have seen artists impressions and a computer generated trailer of what the lounge will look like but the lounge has still several weeks of fit outs remaining so it’s quite bare inside still.
A few weeks pain will be well worth as the staff seem genuinely excited about the new lounge

Makes sense. Main thing is size improvement needed and some better work desk areas and more comfy seats in my view. Fortunately with ADL airport I think regular fliers minimise time in lounge since we don't have traffic issues that might result in getting to airport too early or any real transit traffic.

Look forward to new one anyway as someone going though at least 2 or 3 times a month...

This is what it looks like if anyone wants to know.. It’s got a very strange vibe to it - if that’s what it is it looks like it’ll be, I’ll be frequenting other establishments around the place...
