PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

TIP: Note that it is possible to check loadings yourself (for free)!

There is a complimentary/free service/facility available.

A site has been around for a while has recently changed and fare bucket loadings may be now checked at no direct cost:

Can someone please FD516 HKG-CNX on Thursday 20 Feb?

I've been checking this flight for over 1 month and when I tried on weekend to book the flight is no longer available.

Looks like flight no longer operates Thursdays. I've now booked HK Express but transit of close to 12 hours. :(

Can someone please FD516 HKG-CNX on Thursday 20 Feb?

Can't find it on any other searches, including timetables and flight status.

It's booked in the schedule, but their operating history shows the flight is cancelled almost every second day. It did operate last Thursday - but not Wednesday or Friday.

It's part of Air AsiaX who are known for sudden cancellations without warning so given it's not available on their own web site appears to be cancelled, but not entirely removed from some 3rd party records/services.

Got a general flight upgrade probability question.

I’m booking a trip to Mexico for Day Of The Dead. I have a choice to fly economy or premium economy either MEL>SYD>DFW>MXC or MEL>SFO>MXC

I prefer the SFO route for less connections, shorter flying time but as I’m looking to points upgrade to Business from Economy or PE, which do you reckon offers a better upgrade chance for the long leg (SYD>DFW or MEL>SFO)?

I am punting SYD>DFW would be the quieter route and is the plane with more capacity? Any thoughts?

SYD-DFW has more capacity - but is also a busier and premium heavy route. I'd suggest MEL-SFO has the better chance in general as it's a quieter route.

Hi All, quite new to looking into flight loading stuff/upgrades, just looking at checking QF63 SYD>JNB 25/02 and QF64 JNB>SYD 16/03 if anyone can help.
I put a bid now upgrade in as well for both legs from premium economy.
Thanks in advance :)

that second flight makes me glad about the PE seats regardless of upgrade. how do the loadings work, is it all of the available seats? e.g. the numbers mean the number of seats or does 9 mean a lot of seats and 1 means hardly any?

Thanks again for helping out a newbie :)

For Qantas, anything less than 9 means that's the actual number of seats available in that fare class. 9 means 9 or more.
Some of the early posts in this thread explain things better than I can.
