Qantas T-80 no longer a thing?

Either that or they block some seats for CL’s who are regular commuters on certain flights.

Since moving from SG to WP this year I have noticed T-80 seems to have disappeared and/or replaced with a T-48ish. Is this because the seats are already available and T-48 is the next checkpoint?

This is for International flights btw

It's T-76 for my next DOM flight and the seats are still locked up. I guess the first MEL-SYD on Monday morning has a few CL/WP1s up the front.

Unable to shift J seats MEL - ADL at all from T-80 until check in.
Non status pax - noticed BP's - in row 2 so must have booked a higher fare bucket than us (ours were discounted J fare)

or staff flying NRSA/standby

Went in last night for my Thursday morning flight and seats which were previously blocked all opened up for me - moved forward 6 rows, so T-80 still working on SYD-CNS.

Been monitoring SYD<>MEL flights booked for the start of the week for SWMBO, who is QF PS, and nothing has opened up on the outbound, or inbound at T-80. The outbound is now about T-44... ExpertFlyer shows a number of seats are vacant, but nothing available in QF MMB

I'm in economy QF8 DFW-SYD this Sunday Feb 16th.

Waited til t-80 to select seats, expecting the selection to open up, but actually the opposite happened. What was showing as fairly open yesterday, was now blocked/occupied with only about 20 seats in economy, mostly the last three rows. Ended up with 85D ( no other seats occupied in that row at the time).
Now at around t-70 MMB is telling me individual seat selection is not available for that flight.

Any ideas on what's going on? Was I just too slow to see the availability at t-80 (within a few min)? I didn't think that flight ever flew with a full load, so how could practically all seats be full?

I'm only a bronze ff so not expecting miracles, more just asking for my curiosity (fwiw i went ahead and picked a seat for the return now in case it gets worse at t-80 again lol!!)

Thanks!!

QF8 may have more blocked seats due to weight restrictions. T-80 is often dependent on loadings and status.
As a P1 there is plenty of open seats.

T 80 only generally worked if you had status.
What I found is that even as a Gold T80 would be hit and miss depending on expected flight loading, and then if a forward seat became available then someone has changed flights or that sales weren't as good.

DFW>SYD is already weight restricted so a lot of seats are intentionally blocked off. then once you consider they may start blocking off adjacent seats for P1,WP and even SG status customers, by the time you get to the lower tiers of status, there may not be many seats to choose from.

No doubt it might all change when you're at check in, so perhaps keep a couple of other seats as a preference and ask when checking in?

So on your map.. 'X' is blocked? With blue occupied and white open?
Yours looks more like what mine did pre T-80. Now I can't even access it at all.

Just an update for anyone interested...

I never could see the seat map again.
I had picked 85D but got bumped to 72D at check-in.
Flight was practically full but did at least have a spare seat next to me.
