So why do they say healthy people only if they are already positive? Symptoms don’t show for a few days so this is a real hot mess then!

What they are saying is they can’t accept people who have other medical issues e.g. diabetes where they need to inject as they have no medical equipment only beds and limited doctors and nurses. This is a quarantine area for people who have either been in contact with the virus or have possible symptoms. I guess I shouldn’t have said with the virus, as that is not clear, but with the beds that close together cross infection is going to be appalling.

It depends on many factors.For instance I get hay fever so some times I will sneeze a lot but if my eyes are watering and itchy as well I am pretty sure I will not pass on a virus.It is why cruise ships generally have hand cleanser dispensers around the ship particularly at the entrance to restaurants.I must say that my experience is very few people use them.

As to cruise ships a problem for Anthem of the Seas in New Jersey.A Chinese family of 4 had 1 get flu symptoms so that family has been taken into isolation.However the report says 1 person on board has tested positive to influenza A.it doesn't say the affected family member but why test any one else until you have the answer.
In a possible over reaction it goes on to say that Health authorities have taken off the 27 Chinese passport holders and taken them to EWR to be flown back to China.Nothing said about how that might take place.

It does. Going back to your original post, your PVG-LHR flight (only) would fall within the prima facie scope of EU261. But the airline might have a legitimate excuse for ‘extraordinary circumstances’ in this case.

They would still probably owe you a duty of care... accommodation and meals. But as you aren’t already in China that probably also doesn’t apply.

Hope this isnt insensitive but with the cancellations to China what will airlines do with their premium aircraft?
Even if the current issues with the virus is knocked on the head soon I’d imagine it would take many months or years for airlines to get back to pre virus levels of passenger movements.
Do they simply park them or throw them on to prime domestic routes in the case of the US airlines or could places like Australia see a increase in passengers and hence extra flights or larger aircraft used?

I think recovery will happen quickly as soon as travel restrictions are lifted and cases start to drop. So far economic impact has not been that great. But if this thing stretches beyond May then it will bite. I have been tracking hotel prices in Singapore and Taiwan for my August visit and no decrease so far.

Maybe not for airlines but it has had an immediate impact on our business. The luck of timing. Had this occurred in mid February then we wouldn’t have been impacted at all.

Speaking of spreading illness. The passengers onboard the stuck Princess Diamond ship were this morning throwing their food out to the seabirds on the coast near Yokohama. Brains have left the ship.

It would appear in general Chinese factories are not back to work tomorrow - factory must supply to local Govt all movements of employees for last 14 days - after analysis Govt will then decide which factories / which employees may start work again on which date

They got to CI late on Monday night, so if they are looking at 14 full days on CI then I guess they go home on the 18th. Good news about the little girl.

ET reported here as bowing to the inevitable and reducing flights to/from China. Couldn’t find this story anywhere else, but checked a couple of flights ADD-PEK and ADD-CAN and they were indeed 787s.
