I joined "points program" to try to merge my points together for use when I travel next. I have points with a north american airline program which are acceptable and Amex reward points, which I thought would be acceptable BUT when I tried to merge points from my Amex (Australian card), "points program" would not accept them.
Any ideas how I can maximise my rewards points from these programs?

Note:"points program" refers to a website.

There may not be a direct way of doing this as Australia Amex Reward points do not have a facility to directly credit to any North American Airline programs. There may be indirect ways, depending on which airline yu are referring to.

Yes, I realise this, thats why I was trying to use "points program" which buys, trades, shares, swops points between participating programs including Amex, but not Aussie Amex.

An airline that flys direct from North America to Sydney.(non-stop)
They don't have any direct facility to transfer points to Amex(aussie) or vice versa.

Unfortunately there is no direct transfer facility between Amex Australia and United Airlines.

The only way would be to go via SPG but your Amex MR points would seriously be devalued. You will require 60,607 Amex MR points to receive 12,500 UA MP miles. This works by converting Amex --> SPG at 1,000-330 and then converting SPG --> UA MP at 2:1 but 5,000 bonus for 20,000 transfer from SPG.

If you mean something like Points.com, I imagine that the MR proram rhey refer to is the US one. You will need to get the points into a program that they can use. Not too sure that this will be good value though.

such points "brokers" usually offer very poor exchange rates between programs.

Your cryptic clues regarding the carrier involved leave three obvious airlines that meet the criteria (HA, AC and UA).

Yes, I do mean them. I could not use their website address in my posts as my posts were being rejected. (spam??)
They accept US and Canadian Amex points.
So if their conversion rate is poor, is there any other way to make the best use of Amex MR's and Aeroplan miles?

Sorry about being vague, but my posts were being rejected and I figured the only way around that was to give clues.
If points_com have poor exchange rates between programs, what is the best alternative to make use of Amex(aussie) and Aeroplan miles?

You can transfer Australian Amex Membership Rewards points to Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program (free membership can be established on-line). They will transfer at a rate of 1000 MR points to 330 SPG points. Note this rate was 600 SPG points for a short period until Sept 30th.

Then transfer SPG points to AC Aeroplan at a rate of 1:1 with a 5000 bonus for each blok of 20,000 points transferred. Only transfer a maximum of 60,000 SPG points at a time to get the maximum bonus of 15,000 AC points. You can make additional transfers the following day. Read and understand the terms and conditions on the SPG site before transferring to maximise the bonus earning.

I may be wrong but I remember reading something on Flyertalk that you cannot transfer SPG points to AC Aeroplan if the SPG points were derived from a credit card. The only SPG points that can be transferred to AC Aeroplan are SPG points earned from hotel stays.

This condition has been put in place by AC Aeroplan not SPG. I guess it is a good idea as AC Aeroplan do not want to see their FF program devalued with credit card points transfers.

I think if you actually check the details it is only points earned from a Startwood preferred Guest MBNA Canadian Mastercard Credit Card that cannot be transferred to Air Canada Aeroplan.
