Flew (Air)NZ with an SQ KF# in the NZ booking system in Jul this year.
It was in Works Deluxe, the fare was not cheap either, Au$5xx or so.
Edit: had put in a retro points claim, came back declined, had kept etx booking details too.
Didn't check account after flight, left it the normal few weeks, checked yesterday.
No mileage had appeared for my NZ898 flight, MEL - CHC.
But the mileage has appeared for CHC - AKL - ADL, also this one had my SQ KF# in booking.
Seems that SQ is very picky about the cheaper fares paid for flying with their partner airlines, esp where SQ KF# has been entered into the partners FF system for mileage accrual.
Had the same with VA, flying an Au domestic route, with my SQ KF# in the booking too, that one too got denied.
So if anyone is planning to fly Au - NZ, with NZ, and thinking of accruing SQ KF miles, better fly VA;s own plane, and put in VA FF#, or if need the day flight, fly QF and earn QF points and QF SC.
MEL - WLG flying SQ's own plane, with my SQ KF# in the booking, the miles have appeared, flew subclass of J.
Yes, I know this is a long winded vent.

Always use wheretocredit.com to check each fight segment's ticket fare class to see if it earns miles, and how much in which program. May not be 100% accurate but good place to start.

Yep, many Air New Zealand fare classes don't earn anything other than with Airpoints and United MileagePlus (which is where I've been crediting NZ flights to). That's why it's really important to check the fare class before booking. (At least NZ displays this on their website!)

The bizarre thing with Works Deluxe fares is that although they earn many more Airpoints dollars with NZ's own program, they are not a different fare class so this makes no difference to earn rates/eligibility with partner airline programs.

Not so much SQ being picky, as NZ being stingy, as they have to pay for the points SQ would give you. It's a minefield across all airlines, alliances and partnerships to understand the earning for different fares on different partner programs. Always pays to check.

If you are already a member of NZ Airpoints or United MileagePlus, you may be able to put in a retro claim for miles, I've certainly done that when my Krisflyer number was in the booking, but the fare class didn't earn (easier to do retroclaim than risk missing out on star gold benefits).

No, have never joined Airpoints.
But have thought of joining them in past, though on this website its said that its not a good ff system.
Might move my alliances to Airpoints after my first SQ KF redemption.
Have got 10000 SQ KF miles and some VFF points to utilise.
Seeing NZ flies to Japan and Korea, might ditch SQ KF totally later.
Thanks everyone.
