Virgin Blue - Feral to say the least...

An interesting commentary.

I have little sympathy for the OP, based on his stated history of abusing customer service staff, and inability to check his own boarding pass.
...

Excuse me?

Fella, I travel 2 to 3 times a week, I have been WP longer than I care to mention, I was previously Gold Elite with NZ...

I DO NOT abuse customer service staff - I may point out their incorrect procedure or mistake but do not ABUSE them

Traveling by aircraft is my only way to and from jobs and meetings - do you think I would put myself in a position of being removed from an aircraft - not to mention the moral side of your accusation

Retract and apologise

A really poor quality organisation, which, hopefully, with the financial crisis, will go belly up.
Whilst I do not care much for Virgin Blue or the service they provide if they go belly up this will hand QF a 'get out of jail card' and allow QF to create the monopoly they crave so much.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Its great we have forums like these to raise issues, but one downfall is that people can place highly biased examples of a situation without the full facts and load the opinions of others through effective use of the facts, much like our illustrious newspapers.

And, this story sounds fishy to me.

Firstly, as a person with over a million miles accrued through flying, I have never seen the system of any airline check someone into the wrong class without first creating an error message whereby it needs to be cleared by a manager who informs of an oversale situation in the paid for class. Always when that occurs, you are offered compensation.

Secondly, even if the Virgin Blue system is wrong, the whole thing sounds fishy.. people usually check monitors for the most up to date gate dont they??

And finally, this proves my point.. the rant about the charge for changing velocity preferences. I have never heard of this and this would turn me off DJ, but a quick check of the facts, and you only pay to get your free online statements mailed.. these have always been online and it clearly states the charge to post them on the site.. hardly a reason to vent on this board.

I dont know what others thing but the complaint here doesnt ad up and I would love to see the explanation that comes from the airline when it does.

For the record, when you do complain, those free seats up the front whilst not easy to attain are available and used if the issue is bad enough and the evidence supports the complaint...

I usually reserve the TULE of the WEEK for people like you, however, the weeks not over yet...

By the way, I won't be taking you fishing either...

You can join the line with Bellthorpe and get the humble pie and the book of apologies out.

For your first post, you have not added anything to the thread except question the integrity of the OP without fact or evidence. You have stumbled through saying you have million's of "miles" suggesting to me you are not even on our shores unless of course you are an international flyer. Your comments suggest also you are airline related.

Sir, in my humble opinion, please crawl back from under the rock which you emerged from...

Even though the gate is on the baording pass - you should always check as gates are subject to change.

Your attitude in dealing with anyone who has dared to question you does tend to lead one to think you may be a difficult customer to deal with.

Nah, just two posters who have made statements which are quite incorrect - I also find it annoying that I have to prove myself (especially to a pair of newbies) - I don't BS, it's against my nature (unless it's about how much my golf clubs cost to Mrs!)

Read my other posts, I'm a nice guy who girls love to take home to meet their mums ;)... I have the right to rebut and defend myself when somesome states incorrectly about me.

As do you.

BTW, someone flying DJ from gate area 13, check for me if there's a TV monitor down there? I'll buy you a beer if you do. There must be monitors, but I don't remember seeing them, thats why I went to the counter to ask why the flight had not boarded...

LoL! Quote fo the day! Love it.

Havent been to gate 13, so I'll take your word on it!:p

I am not sure how the DJ system is implemented but I did not think BlueZone was a separate class as such, more an optional extra you could pay for.

Exactly. You still have an S, X, L, Y, V etc class booking, it is just an add on. The only separate class on DJ is Premium Economy. THis was not the case here.

whatever77, as I have previously mentioned, I can backup MunitalP's story as exactly the same thing happened to me (right down to the row 18 seat allocation) when I booked blue zone, but I knew enough to correct this.. Also I had a gate change on that flight, but I have a habit of double checking monitors.

Also, I am sure DJ operate a different system to traditional "legacy" carriers, and I suggest that you know zip about blue zone and how it operates, by suggesting that it might be oversold. With only a small number of seats on the plane in blue zone, and minimal losses if someone cancels it I would be extremely surprised if DJ oversell blue zone. If you try and book such a seat it indicates the number of blue zone seats left on that flight, before you proceed to booking.

Hi dajop, yes it does sound like there could be a systemic problem if people are having to ask/confirm BZ after having paid for it, which I will take up with our GM Airports

Great! Hopefully it can be sorted out, to the benefit of pax and therefore the airline.

Hi there
Never had a problem with BZ, I never book it, just OLCI and then ask at the gate (or before OLCI was introduced, asked at check in) So far 100% success rate.

Maybe it's the t-shirts i wear. :D

Cheers

Dead set honest - I saw a guy walking into MEL high court wearing a "Bring back the DEATH sentence" tee shirt... I'm assuming he'd been called up for jury duty selection! :)

If the gate does indeed change then it may be the right time to try and see if the airport PA works and make an announcement. Does not hurt and guarantees that the majority of people are aware of the gate change.

Same for me. When i used to ask for it i always got it...

But i then worked out that i prefer a non BZ seat, mainly coz then i dont have to get up to get stuff.

Now that is funny... Wonder if he was seen as unbiased?

The cheesy jokes go over my head.
I believe that :!: :D

As I believe you have done here :!: Leaving out significant facts is akin to lying in my opinion :!:

Having just arrived at this post after a few days away I was going to comment further but I now believe it unnecessary. Both these posters have answered themselves. :p
