I am really cranky at QF today.Tried to checkin for this evening's flight TSV-BNE.Wanted a window seat on the B717 on the 2 seat side.Several were available but did you think I could select one?Absolutely no way.Every selection was met by a message-Sorry your seat selection is no longer available.

Getting more irate by the minute I decided to just checkin without seat selection.Naturally they have put me in an aisle seat C.

Glad to see that you are a fanboy. Look forward to satisfying your fetish in the future.

To help tide you over, from the QF MEL Dom J lounge last night. It was supposed to be pork in an overly sweet apple like sauce. Overhearing comments of others (which may or may not reflect those of the author), slop would have been preferable. The pasta being served in the QP adjacent was far better...View attachment 179672
Last nights left over pork in apple sauce is today’s lunch.

What is all our frenetic air travel doing to the planet? (If you don’t believe anthropogenic global warming is happening or that it doesn’t matter, you can take a break from this week’s column; it’s not for you.) Air travel accounts for only a small part of global emissions. The International Air Transport Association says planes were the source of 2 per cent of man-made carbon dioxide emissions last year, although some argue that it is higher. There are other damaging effects in the vapour trails that airlines leave, but it is true that cars, power stations and factories do more damage

I love that Stockholm Syndrome thing. It is such a bizarrely inappropriate descriptive in the airline scenario. I do not yet know the term for it, but I suspect there is another syndrome where the sufferrers are unable to accept that other people are happy with their choices :)

Easy - Dunning Kruger. Just not sure if that applies to people happy with their choices or those who can't accept they're happy.

What about happily charging more for a portable SatNav when the thing you’re renting has a better inbuilt one?
But you can’t determine whether you’re renting something with inbuilt SatNav because they don’t give you info about the spec.

Cue JohnK and his latest outrageous thought. Personally am not sure sure why this whole thread is not dedicated to him, given it was clearly the intent of starting it.

You don't own a phone?
I certainly don’t want to carry a universal mounting-kit around with me, and then all the issues with the cost of roaming data ...
... plus the fact that because I’m a bloke my phone’s screen is too small to be a decent SatNav!

So all climate change conferences should be conducted via Skype and not meeting in one particular city that requires everyone to fly to get there. That will never happen.

Take a look at the OP, @JohnK had nothing to do with it. Sure he has opinions, some of which I will never agree with however unless you have met him, do not pass judgment.

Am trying to be more careful in this thread now. I had made an infantile comment that I understand could have been taken badly by people who do not actually know me. It was meant in fun, but it was also given from a perspective of mine that is sometimes naive because of my fundamental good nature. I am used to working/living in environments where humour is a saviour, and I only make fun of those who I actually like. But I see in hindsight it was simply "not on". All I can do is express my apologies to anyone offended, and to the mod team. And offer an olive branch and a drink or coffee to anyone that may have been offended, whenever we can meet :)

This is have covered:
1. mobile plan that includes 2GB per month free international data
2. bluetooth to the car wireless - See I need to pay that $5 per day
3. Listen carefully to the voice instructions.

Wherrer you'll all murder me is my business pays for the phone plan (which is only $69 a month), so clearly this is not an option for self funded phone users.

Yeah, you lost me with the combination of "only" and "$69/month". :)

I've not tried doing SatNav by just listening, though … dunno how well I'd go with it, I like to know what's coming up a bit in the future (eg. to know which lane I should be in if possible).

Well the plan is actually $89 per month but with a monthly $20 credit... figure that out.

It is really hard to listen only. Hence "listen carefully". I certainly had to pick up the phone a couple of times and look at the screen. Thankfully possible to just press home button to bring up the display.
My behvaiour was lucky not illegal, and a hell of a lot safer than some of the other phone usage observed in other cars.

Most outrageous. It seems QF QLD have learnt how to do PB and Priority luggage.
Both TSV on Friday and BNE yesterday most of the premium line boarded before the first from Y line.
Not only that bags out in first 10 both times.

What am I going to be able to complain about now. ;) o_O :D:D

Don't fear, drron, I'm sure they'll only get it right for a month or two, just to make sure you've become used to the way it's supposed to work before they lapse again … 😄
