Let us know your most outrageous thoughts on any topic about flying

@juddles you are starting to cross the line of what is reasonable and rational see your post #12. Please do not go off topic. ;)

Forgive me! You are correct!

Can I redeem myself by saying that Virgin is a competent and valid alternative to Qantas??

Matt_01, it is here 10+pm, in Noosa, Queensland. It is a dark and stormy night. I ponder my Qantas experience and make a choice - I will walk out into that darkness and rain with the hope that the dawn will bring a better day...

Maybe if you’re a person responsible for aircraft & lounge interiors, you think that the target-market knows seat designers as well as they know chefs?
Maybe...... but unlikely. My in-depth scientific analysis of the subject reveals that no other airline (the bigger, more important ones) seem to put this info front and centre in their comms, magazine, website etc. I would argue that the only reason anyone even knows Marc's name is because of the free press QF give him. I do NOT for one moment think its the other way around.

Whilst we are on the topic of food bashing I have just looked at my VA account and after 26 flights since 19/5 that Luke chap at VA is not that much better. Although that chicken and Penne or Pulled Lamb and Barley was nice 10 weeks later with no other option gets a little boring.

I do believe that there is some MEL chef called George looking for a new gig. 😜
He is with Qatar though I heard they might drop him as his treatment of workers doesn't meet Qatari standards

Here is just a thought, whilst I and many others appreciated the QF carry on weight increase to 10kg for 1 bag on domestic, how about they do the same for international.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

I can be outrageous , yet completely sincere, in one thought:

How about everyone stop complaining about trivia, and thank the airline industry for enabling this fast and safe method of travel, to almost everyone, to almost everywhere, for what is sheer peanuts......

Ummm... you make it sound like they’re doing us a favour! Everyone is in it to make money, not to provide us with cheap-as-chips travel (although that might be the outcome).

feeling guilty yet ?

The World Bank Group seeks to offset the travel of its staff. The Bank acknowledges that passengers in premium (First and business) classes on a plane have a higher carbon footprint, so they have recalculated the World Bank Group footprint from their air travel, taking the class of travel into account. The Bank estimates that emissions per passenger in First class can be as much as nine times as high, and those in Business class can be three times as high, as those in Economy class. Those in premium classes not only have larger seats and more space per passenger (meaning that there can be fewer passengers, overall, in the plane) but there is often a lower load factor (the proportion of seats occupied) and they can take on more luggage (meaning more fuel has to be used to transport it). A Guardian journalist looked into the class issue in 2010 and concluded that the more passengers pay for a square metre of cabin, the more profit the airline makes and the more the premium travellers subsidise the cheaper classes of tickets. “Put another way, if no one flew business or first class, the price of economy travel would have to rise, leading ultimately to lower occupancy rates, fewer flights and less global warming.”

I, also, feel no guilt.
Not because I’m under the ridiculous misapprehension that I’m not disproportionately contributing to the ruination of this planet for future generations, but because I’m a mercenary **** who frankly doesn’t care that much ‘cos I’ll be dead before it becomes a problem.

Yeah ... I know ... I’m just openly stating what everyone else is thinking. But meh.

People who style/filter their airline lounge food to try and make it look like it came from a hatted restaurant, take a photo, upload it to a certain thread on a certain forum and claim it’s the best thing they ever tasted 😅

(When all people with any real taste in food know it’s only a level or two above school
cafeteria slop)

Another variant of these people exist who take similar photos of airline food, but they don’t make me laugh as much as the first cohort.

I wish I'd got onto this thread earlier, only saw it last night. Oh I could could go to town but shall restrain myself because I have lots of long haul approaching and need to be Zen, unlike those once a year travellers who demand lounge access because their flight is delayed three hours and they used to be a Silver. Oops.

The wine selection in the QF Domestic J lounges is terrible. I don't know if it has gotten worse or if I have just become bored of it but I swear they have had the same Wolf Blass pinot for about a year and it is just slop... plus the lounge is always so crowded! And noisy! So many Mr Important Businessman talking loudly on their phones doing important business..... that's one thing JAL does really well - banning phone calls in their lounges.

I think it is actually nicer to sit in the bar across from QF domestic gate 2 in Melbourne... pay for better wine and enjoy a quieter atmosphere.

Is that outrageous enough?

Glad to see that you are a fanboy. Look forward to satisfying your fetish in the future.

To help tide you over, from the QF MEL Dom J lounge last night. It was supposed to be pork in an overly sweet apple like sauce. Overhearing comments of others (which may or may not reflect those of the author), slop would have been preferable. The pasta being served in the QP adjacent was far better...20190801_183421.jpg
