Hyatt Centric - HKG Victoria Harbour, from the end of August

Great to see Hyatt expanding its footprint in Asia. HKG is pretty lucky having 3 Hyatts already but this will be the first Centric to complement the Grand and the 2x Regencys.

I've stayed at the Grand and the Sha Tin properties.

I don't think Asia is a particular problem for Hyatt (although it's certainly less than the rest). I think China has the most Hyatt properties outside of the US. Europe, Africa and South America would all have fewer properties than Asia.

Would agree that Europe is pretty sparse. I suppose most of the major cities in Asia have one now that I think about it, but typically only the one property as compared to IHG or Starriott which will have a dozen in some cities.

The examples I've often heard used are London and Paris. In London, Hyatt has 17 (including two yet to open and with its SLH partnership which has limited benefits) whereas Hilton has almost 50. In Paris, Marriott has 29 or 30. According to the app, Hyatt has 31 in all of France, including about eight properties that don't yet seem to be open or taking reservations. And I think France is the country with its largest number of properties after the US and China. Yet I'm somehow asked to put my bum in their beds for 60 nights a year.
