240v power in QF A380 economy?

Does anyone know if there is 240v power outlets in economy on the QF A380's? I'm on QF7 tomorrow and at at T-20 or so I haven't received any upgrade notifications

Yes there is. There is a thread around here somewhere that provides pictures of where it is located.

Note that there is not necessarily one outlet for every seat - but they are in every row, including some which are stated in some places (e.g. SeatGuru) not to have power (thinking 80A and the like).

It's also worth noting that they aren't 240v power outlets but instead are 110v and provide up to 75 watts.

If you've got a laptop or device with draws a lot of power then it might not work very well.

Thanks henrus - that is very important with my laptop as it does have a massive power draw - and it makes no excuse for that given its processing power!

 

[Quickstatus]

The 110V AC power is located near the footrests in economy. So that means a row of 3 seats has 2 footrests = 2 power points from memory. And the row of 4 has 3 sockets.

I believe no power sockets in exit or bulkhead seats

Each socket has power draw limit of only 75W. Overdraw can lead to circuit breakers tripping which can only be reset when aircraft on ground because the CB are not accessible from the cabin area. I’m uncertain if the CB are per bank of seats or per power socket.

Suggest using a less than 75 W power adapter (that way you can’t trip the CB) and battery conservation mode in settings. As the cabin lights will be quickly dimmed the screen brightness can be turned down as well. Wifi and Bluetooth off will also save a few watts

All seats on the A380 in economy have power ports. If you are in a bulkhead/exit, they are located in the gap where the screen comes up from.

Note that newer power plugs have plastic at the base of the prongs and it may not work. Carry a US adaptor onboard and that generally works if the Australian plug doesn't work.

80A has a shared power point with 80B which in turn shares another with 80C.

Good News - there is a power socket readily accessible to 80A. It to the left of the 80A occupant at the back of 79B on the right hand of that seat. There's another power socket similarly placed between 79B and 79C (accessible to 80B/C).

It points at a 45 degree angle to the floor.
