Hello, I am asking for someone’s help
Last Thursday, my family and I left New Zealand after a wonderful holiday.
We flew out of Christchurch Airport on Qantas QF 046, departing at 3.35pm heading to Sydney.
There were four in the traveling party – My wife, my son, my mother-in-law and myself.
We put four suitcases into baggage check-in and received the small baggage stickers that went on to our boarding passes.
I watched the baggage tags printed with the ‘SYD’ for Sydney and saw them placed onto the four suitcases.
We then headed for the departure lounge and settled in with about 45 minutes to spare.
Prior to final boarding of the last passengers, my son’s name was called over the PA system to report to the check-in desk.
We did so, all four of us, to be asked by the Air New Zealand attendant assisting the Qantas flight if we had put 3 or 4 bags
onto the plane, totaling 86kg. Our FOUR bags did add up to 86kg, (I had noted that during baggage check-in) but here was
a young man in a grey Air New Zealand outfit, asking us if we were traveling 3 OR 4 suitcases.
My wife answered that we had put 4 cases into baggage check-in and showed the 4 stickers on our boarding passes.
She then asked the question “YOU did put four bags onto the plane didn’t you?”
The answer came back from behind the desk “Of course, yes, 4 went on to the plane.”
We arrive is Sydney after the flight and find that only 3 suitcases have arrived – MINE is missing and it is ORANGE in colour and very hard to lose.
I have traveling a lot with work and that is why I chose the bright ORANGE case as it was always easy to find.
I am a Frequent Flyer with Qantas – I have contacted Qantas and filled out the forms and I have had to follow up on everything!
I have been in touch with Baggage Services in Sydney but I live in Perth.
I am amazed to be told by Baggage Services to describe what was in the suitcase as sometimes bags are opened to find out more on the content.
(Perhaps the bag has been damaged, broke open and the contents were scattered which explains the interest in what was in my bag)
I am amazed by the comment made at the Christchurch Airport prior to departure about how many suitcase we were traveling.
My name tag was broken off on the way to New Zealand however there is the surname JOHNSTON written in black ink on it’s base.
THE CASE IS BRIGHT ORANGE AND MADE OF PLASTIC WITH FOUR CLIP LOCKS AND TWO HAVE COMBINATION LOCKS.
THE CASE IS BRIGHT ORANGE!!!
I still have the 4 baggage stickers and one case is still missing and I am being given very little concern.
Can you help me?
My holiday DVD vision is in the case, along with clothing, laptop leads, power leads, my wife’s makeup, blue and white shoes….
This was my mother-in-laws first overseas travel after a family lose – this DVD vision is VERY INPORTANT TO ALL OF US!
What else can I do?
