The VFF facebook page posted a hint about it yesterday (18 may) so it must be true. "Something twice as sweet is coming in 2 days. Keep an eye on your inboxes!" Here.

Also spotted by OzBargain. Here.

Aren't the lounges full enough already? They should really open the upstairs in SYD for WPs during the morning and evening peak times. Having said all that, I'm taking advantage of the last DSC offer to maintain platinum for the coming year haha...

Noticed this in the T&C’s “Bonus Status Credits will be applied to the originally purchased fare class and any upgrades will not attract bonus Status Credits.”

I’m not too sure it means:
1) If you upgrade a fare (IE points from economy to business) you are therefore forfeiting the double SC’s.
AND/OR
2) If you upgrade a fare (IE points from economy to business) you will only get double SC’s as per your original fare.
AND/OR
3) If you change your fare to a higher fare class by means of payment you are therefore forfeiting the double SC’s.

I’m hoping it’s 2 and 3.

My humble opinion on this:
1) Incorrect.
2) Correct.
3) Could go either way as might be seen as a booking modification. If you are successful in an "upgrade me" bid, likely to be treated as per point 2.

Hope this helps.

Trying to register for the double status credits offer but it keeps saying the quota has been reached.

I was able to register at precisely 12:01 AM this morning and I was able to get through. However, with DSC being offered only on VA metal is not so good.

It's pretty standard for airlines to only offer bonuses on their own metal. Same for Qantas' DSC offers also.

Yup, I get:
RATE LIMIT QUOTA VIOLATION. QUOTA LIMIT EXCEEDED. IDENTIFIER :
...followed by some GUID.

Yea, that's true. I've got a Qantas DSC over the weekend for Intl flights.

The thing is, most of my travels are to India and neither QF or VA use their metals to India. In most cases, I need to change planes at HKG/BKK/SIN/KUL and from there on it's one of their partners, so CX/MH/UL which don't earn DSC.

At least in the case of QF - I get to choose OW partners, but in the case VA, I can only choose SQ (which is quicker) or EY (which adds another day, at the least to my travel, both ways) and the earn rates on SQ and EY are super less if you choose Discount Economy fares. And fares are typically expensive on SQ/EY when compared to MH/UL.

Unable to get onto the velocity website to register before admin team completed a flight booking this morning... damn VA IT.

Got the email an hour ago. Clicking the link only gives me this though:

This page isn’t working
experience.velocityfrequentflyer.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 503

same error here too, dammit! Cause the timing is perfect I have flights to book!

The famed Virgin IT chimps need to be fed more bananas.

I get the same stupid quota message :mad:

Given what Qantas are doing I am gobsmacked Virgin have not allowed this on Hong Kong flights as I posted above. That dopey route is bleeding money already, and has been since inception, and this double offer might have attracted some bookings.

We have done three paid oz-HKG Business Class flights in recent months, one done only based on the double SC offer - in fact I recall that was on HK Airlines metal out of Cairns or OOL and think even those qualified.

"Qantas has been sending out more targeted double status credit offers this weekend. This time, the offer applies to all Qantas international flights for travel until 9 May 2020.

The offers are targeted, meaning you’ll only be eligible if you received an email from Qantas with a link to register for the promotion. Many AFF members have received this offer; if you didn’t get one, make sure you’ve opted in to emails from Qantas Frequent Flyer!

With this particular offer, you can earn double status credits on international flights that are marketed and operated by Qantas (i.e. on a Qantas aircraft and booked with a “QF” flight number). All fare classes are eligible. But domestic flights and flights operated by partner airlines are not eligible. This offer expires on Wednesday 22 May 2019 and you’ll need to travel between 23 May 2019 and 9 May 2020 to earn double Qantas status credits.

Qantas hasn’t been holding back on the double status credit offers lately! The airline has been continuously sending targeted offers to members over the past few months, such as the one we reported on last month. The most recent public offer (i.e. open to all Qantas Frequent Flyer members) was in February this year."

Would be nice but still has other international routes. QF doesn’t have domestic routes included in their DSC promotion which is a PITA but it is what it is. I’m just thankful both are offering something
