We had been planning to walk along the water front to get to Souk Wakif, but given my accident we decided to go by taxi instead. Taxis are reasonably priced and seemed easy to get. The souk is original but has been very revamped.
Before going out I changed into a calf length, fairly full skirt and a top with sleeves and shoulders covered.
The Souk was fairly buzzing when we got there - both tourists and Qataris and it was fun to walk around soaking in the atmosphere.
We had got used to Master FM telling us where to eat, so hadn’t done any homework. Bit of a mistake as there are dozens of restaurants and cafes . We avoided the Pizza one, the Italian, one with wraps and a chocolate cafe and settled on a more authentic looking one with seafood.
The food was OK, although nothing special, but the service was woeful. Mr FM picked up his glass to drink and the bottom fell out! He was drenched in water! They did grudgingly come and mop up, but after asking twice for another glass we gave up and shared a glass. Al Bandar it was called and I am sure there would be much better options
