The view from my "office"

Between slurping superb ultra high altitude vineyard wines in Tilcara, far NW Argentina, I have been led to believe there are possibly a couple of hills around here that are worth poking about in.

There could well be Just a touch of truth to the rumour...

Were you a rally driver in a previous life? You seem to seek out these challenging roads!:p:D

If you want to get anywhere interesting around here, there is no alternative ;). Tilcara is just over 2000m and as you can see, I got up to 4000m at the top of the pass.

Today was a very good sealed road; yesterday I also got up to 4000m in a different area on a rough and slightly scarily narrow dirt road with steep drop-offs and no barrier.

The HiLux and handler did it with aplomb :p.

No idea that Argentina could look like it does in your photos. great stuff!

Urban foxes are big in London I have read. Actually there is a den (?) on Bowen Drive here just near Lake Burley Griffin. I've seen them around in Duffy (another suburb) as well but usually at night.

Yep, quite a few roam the streets here. Usually at night... occasionally see them during the day.

We had a fox walk across our patio on the Sunshine Coast a couple of years ago - saw it a few times and I even got a photo to prove it !! We live near an "environmental park" AKA a WW2 bombing range ;)

I had plenty of time for a leisurel run back to Salta today so I opted for the scenic route through another cloud forest. It was a gorgeous sans clouds day. It was only about 175km but it took a good three hours or more.

Here we go again... ;).

It was a good sealed road, but incredibly narrow. Also, Sunday drivers were out in force, so another reason to take it slow and steady.

Climbing up the E flank of the sierra, the vegetation was thick and lush; pop over the hill onto the W flank and it open up very quickly.
