Qantas Delays/Cancellations

In more on Thursday 4 April 2019, QF1546, the 0745 hours BNE down to CBR did not become airborne until 0858 hours. B717 VH-NXJ should arrive at about 1129 hours, 54 late...

Its return flight is QF1546 (1115 hours CBR back up to BNE). Takeoff was at 1208 so arrival at 1242, 47 minutes tardy, looks to be the go.

In more on 4 April 2019, QF63 (B744 scheduled late morning, 1155 hours SYD - JNB) pished back at 1233 so expected arrival is half an hour behind at 1730 hours.

Unpunctuality with some of the QantasLink B717 fleet continues on Thursday 4 April with the 1355 hours SYD southbound to HBA (VH-YQX), QF1549 not becoming airborne until 1540 mid afternoon. Expected arrival is 1718, 83 late.

QF 650 Perth to Brisbane over 4 hours late

Thanks. Unfortunately if one examined FR24, it would misleadingly suggest QF650 was predicted as only 19 late into BNE (gate time) at 1709 hours. This is due to FR24 having a strange habit (though not consistently) of altering the timetabled departure to what the airline now says it is, even though in this case the flight actually departed exactly as I love says. Anyway, BNE arrival looks to be 1714 instead of 1255 hours, so 259 minutes tardy. Aircraft is B738 VH-VZM.

QF631, the 1610 hours from BNE to MEL was expected to depart 35 late while QF1750 to CNS is worse, with this scheduled 1620 hours predicted to push back at 1800.

B717 VH-YQV on the CBR - SYD scheduled 1715 hours did not take off until 1814 with a hold near Gunning further delaying this short flight. Arrival should be at around 1856, 46 late. QF1550, the 1720 CBR - BNE was in the sky exactly an hour later so VH-NXM, another untimely B717 should arrive at 1850, 50 late.

Another I missed yesterday - again, apologies - was QF3, the 1915 hours SYD - HNL that pushed back at 2209. Arrival was at 1039 hours, 189 minutes late. B744 VH-OEH then turned around to form the 0950 hours HNL - SYD (QF4), taking off at 1241 hours so Thursday 4 April arrival should be at 1903 hours, 123 minutes late.

Meanwhile B744 VH-OJU is operating QF6403 that on 4 April has just taken off from SYD at 1823, having been showing as a 1725 hours departure. One assumes this is a charter for JQ (for the second time this week) due to last Friday's engine problems affecting JQ15 on approach to KIX that has seen that B788 (VH-VKJ) marooned at KIX as Japanese transport safety experts (aided by ATSB) endeavour to determine what went wrong: a serious incident.

Storms around SYD during the early evening of Thursday 4 April appear to be creating many delays with QF456, the 1715 MEL - SYD up up and away at 1739 (about 15 late) but due to holding above Goulburn, arrival for B738 VH-XZG is suggested as 1930, 50 late.

QF496, the 1745 hours ex MEL is further back and predicted to arrive in SYD half an hour late at 1940. Aircraft is VH-VZH.

Southbound QF457 (VH-VZB, the 1745 hours ex SYD did not take off until 1837 so arrival is delayed until 1958 hours, 38 late. QF451, the same route's 1715 hours is worse with VH-XZL expected to arrive at 1952, 62 late.

The DRW down to SYD QF843 has B738 VH-VZD and is arriving at 1928 hours, 33 late.

QF477, 1815 hours SYD down to MEL took off at 1924 so VH-XZB is at least 45 late.

QF28 from SCL to SYD, the B744, departed yesterday at 1403 hours, 33 minutes behind schedule but Thursday evening arrival was 1855, 65 late.

QF1579, the 0525 hours MCY down to SYD had a late start to its Friday 5 April 2019 morning, having taken off at 0631 hours. B738 VH-NXE should arrive at 0859, 49 minutes behind schedule.

The 0720 hours MEL up to SYD, QF406, took off at 0806 hours. B738 VH-VZK should arrive half an hour late at 0915 hours.

Later on 5 April, the BNE up to RMA QF2560 (Q300 VH-SBV) should arrive at about 1440 hours, 35 late.

QF11 (A388 at a scheduled 1035 hours SYD - LAX) did not become airborne until 1122, so arrival is estimated as 0650, half an hour tardy.

QF520 (B738 VH-XZP, the timetabled 1100 SYD up to BNE) took off at 1225 hours so arrival at 1236 was 66 minutes tardy. The aircraft then ran QF665, the 1245 hours BNE down to ADL taking off at 1331 for an arrival at 1635, half an hour behind schedule.

The B744 on QF27 pushed back in SYD 26 late at 1301 hours. Same day SCL arrival should be 1135, half an hour behind.

Last night (Thursday 4 April), QF1407, the 1725 hours new flight from SYD to BXG departed an hour late, arriving at 2046, 81 late. This is at least the second time that there's been significant delays in one direction on this new route. Not a good start!

On Friday 5, QF450, the 1630 hours MEL - SYD was in the sky at 1732. B738 VH-VXT should be at its destination gate at 1846, 51 late. QF446, the 1600 hours on the same route and direction took off at 1650 so VH-VZI should be in at 1802, 37 late.

In the southbound direction, QF455 has B738 VH-VZC is the 1730 ex SYD that was in the sky at 1824, so delayed arrival is 1946, 41 late.

The evening MEL up to CBR, QF822 has VH-VXC and is arriving at gate at 2116 hours, 36 late.

QF467 on the same route (VH-VZF) is the 1930 hours airborne at 2032 for a suggested arrival at 2145, 40 down.

QF162 from WLG-SYD was delayed by almost 3 hours this morning (2h 45m). The crew told us it was due to bad weather between CHC and WLG holding up the plane's arrival. In the end it managed to arrive only 130 mins late which is not bad given the initial delay.

Also on Sunday 7 April 2019, QF686, the 1210 lunchtime ADL across to MEL (B738 VH-VZA) was in the sky at 1322, about 557 late, so arrival has become 1457, also 57 late.

The B744 on QF63, the scheduled 1055 hours SYD across to JNB often runs late. Sunday 7 April is no exception, with pushback at 1152, 57 late. Whether due to late connecting passengers - this is QF's only Oz east coast to Africa flight, so many would connect from BNE, MEL and other airports - or some other reason is unclear. Arrival should be 45 late at 1745, meaning a delay to tonight's QF64 ex the South African major city.

Eastbound QF7, the A388 bound from SYD to DFW was off its blocks 23 late at 1358 with arrival sugegested as half an hour late at 1330 (same day). The long layover means QF8 won't be adversely affected timewise by this.

The far shorter 1245 hours CNS to HID (QF2496, Q400 VH-QOP) took off at 1356 with suggested arrival at 1531 hours, 61 late.

Later on 7 April, B738 VH-XZG on QF156 from AKL to MEL, the 1325 hours that took off more than 90 late at 1528 should arrive at 1716 hours, 96 late.

QF544 6:00pm SYD-BNE cancelled again today. SMS sent around 2:00pm and shortly after rebooked on QF542.

Looks like QF has too many SYD-BNE flights today. The 4:30pm SYD-MEL also cancelled.

In further on Sunday 7 April, QF9 departed MEL at 1542 hours this afternoon, 27 late, arriving PER at 1737, 22 late, but the departure for LHR has been delayed until 1920, 35 late for an expected Monday 8 LHR arrival at 0545, 40 minutes down.

Monday 8 April sees QF162, the early morning 0545 hours WLG across to SYD not taking off until 0705 hours. Arrival for B738 VH-XZK is a suggested 0825, 55 late.

B738 VH-VXU on QF404, the 0630 hours MEL - SYD had not become airborne by 0740 hours so will be at least 55 minutes late arriving at gate at the mainland harbour capital.

QF133 (0715 hours MEL - CHC, VH-VZH) was airborne at 0759 so arrival in the Shaky Isles should be at 1305 hours, half an hour behind schedule.

UPDATE: QF404 was airborne at 0747 so expected arrival has become 0905, 70 minutes tardy.

Continuing with Monday 8 April, QF420 (B738 VH-VZY, the 0930 hours MEL - SYD in the sky at 0956) is arriving at 1125, half an hour tardy.

QF741 (1030 hours SYD across to ADL) departed uneventfully at 1036 but did not take off until 1121, so B738 VH-VYD ought arrive at 1253, 48 minutes tardy.
