I am in the process of moving house and I found a travel wallet from October 1995:shock:. I flew PER-SYD-LAX-SYD-PER. Standard stuff, except for the last sector.

I was only a teenager at the time, so I don't remember all the details. But I find the flight number QF23 odd for a SYD-PER sector. I am guessing it is a Domestic leg of a International flight. Perhaps SYD-PER-JNB. But I am not sure.

Does anyone remember QF23 from 13 years ago?

Actually, it may have been going to Harare, but might be JNB.

I think I have a printed 1995 Qantas Worldwide timetable book at home; I'll have a look.

I couldn't find a 1995 timetable, but did dig up an Oct 1996 version.

QF23 did indeed fly as a 744 operating on Thursdays:
  • SYD-PER-HRE-JNB
  • Summer schedule was 1015-1150, 1305-1730, 1900-2040 &
  • sector times of 0445, 1100 & 0140 respectively.
It actually returned as QF64 on Thursdays:
  • HRE-JNB-PER-SYD with the HRE-JNB segment operating as both QF23 and QF64.
  • Summer schedule was 1900-2040, 2155-1300+1, 1415-2100 &
  • sector times of 0140, 0855 & 0355 respectively.
Other info:
  • QF64 operated JNB-PER-SYD on Sat & Sun
  • QF63 operated SYD-PER-JNB on Sat & Sun, SYD-PER-JNB-HRE on Mon
  • QF24 operated JNB-HRE-PER-SYD on Mon operating both QF24 and QF63 JNB-HRE.
  • Air Zimbabwe codeshared on the HRE flights as UM23, UM24, UM63 & UM64.
