Wine Glasses, Decanters etc

Stumbled across the Riedel outlet on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/crystal...7jQAAOSwONBZCp2k&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

Yes it's still expensive but at least a little more palatable than normal retail outlets. PayPal payment was sent to a domain name linked to Riedel Aust so it should be the real deal. $40 for 6 Vinum Riesling....can't resist.

nice find, though postage cost is a negative :(

In the video, one of the criticisms he makes of in bottle solutions is that their is air in the bottle. Using a solution the forces one out by inserting argon means no new air. Obviously a consumable.

This solution has much more initial exposure to air in the whole decanting process. Then, each time you want to pour some wine, there is huge air exposure. So the arguments don't seem scientificly sound to me.

not sure why you think that given the basic shape of the decanter compared with others that are designed to provide greater aeration?

also Luckily the oxidation from pouring the wine into the decanter is tiny in comparison to the continued oxidation of an open bottle. Over a period of days or weeks the biggest factor affecting oxidation is the oxygen that is continually introduced into the wine.

Yep a real vintage QF Boeing one think 727, still has the factory plates on it, its 20 years old, was on its way to the tip years ago, mate gave it to me, we had to do a lot of panel beating and fixing the trolley wheels, could not get the coating off as it as so worn, even pro sand blasters wouldn't touch it, so sanded it as best we could and used a special vinyl over it, looks like grey steel, got the QF stickers in the USA and the draws from Germany eBay (various airlines), its sure unique and people ask about it all the time or want to buy it.

looks good - well done :)

Yeah I've complained to them already but in their defence, they're new to the eBay game so they don't know how to do the automatic discounted postage on multiple items. Pair of cab sauv glasses turned up in bits, messaged them and got a new tracking number for the replacement. Nice.

Bought an Eve decant for $200 RRP $799 so the extra postage I've been charged is trivial.

If you are meaning the goblets with blue bands around the middle (photos of which haven't graced these ages for years - you have a good memory); they are special as they were part of our wedding present from my deceased uncle. They are general drinking glasses and used more by Mrs QF WP. Can't fit enough in them for my liking - thus I use Bordeaux wine glasses instead.
