Sounds like you were asking for more of a comp than a challenge. Maybe call back up and ask for a complementary status upgrade based on history and upcoming flights?

Also, when doing your plat challenge you don't get access to the plat perks, so you wouldn't have had F lounge access anyway.

I have requested via email a match/challenge for MrsMac who is VA plat. How long does it typically take for Qantas to respond? She has a HKG - MEL return booked in J in 2 weeks and another in 6 weeks, so if the challenge is offered we would like to start it before the first trip. Also can anyone confirm that prebooked travel will be accepted for the challenge - it is already linked to her FF account so will be visible to Qantas. And of course they were booked on Friday, just before the double SC offer which would have gotten her to Gold anyway was launched

So cancel those flights for a refund and rebook... You'll get a new PNR (booking reference) for the new booking.

Considered this but no go. They are ex Hong Kong and attract a cancellation fee. Neither her work (who are paying) nor myself willing to pick up the fee. Even if I was willing to pay the fee, her work, who use a corporate TA, would severely frown upon cancelling/rebooking to gain personal benefit.

To clarify, the flights will qualify her for gold or plat if a challenge is offered in time, or would have qualified her outright for gold with double SC, which as per above isn’t an option
