My husband and I are aiming for RTW J class in the next year or so. With the devaluation of VA to SQ just want to make sure that we are doing some transfers the most effective way.

He has 450k velocity, I have 65k which we will be moving over to Krisflyer before the end of the year (we would lose almost 100K if we left it until after Jan 2019). It may make no difference but just wondering about should we move our points to one account whilst in velocity and transfer the whole of the points over together to just one of our krisflyer or move them individually. I.e. can we still pool them to buy 2 x RTW J class once in Krisflyer (240k each needed for RTW I believe).

Also, I go back to the UK quite frequently, if the miles were in my husbands account, could they still be used for a redemption in my name if I had to go back again? I realise of course it depends on the availability of award seats.

Many thanks

I agree pool to one account in VA before transfer.
I believe you can still nominate 5 people in KF that you can book for, so hubby should be able to book you a ticket without a problem.
I have booked tickets for two friends when not traveling with them before.

Thanks for your responses, it looks like that is the way to go then, tfr all to velocity and then move them over to Krisflyer.

Ozzieblade, that's reassuring to know that I can get a ticket (if available) if needs must.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes. I have a wife and 3 daughters.
My wife is also a KF Member as is the oldest daughter now.

We have used points from both my wife's and my account to redeem for them including when they have not travelled with us. Ditto that I have redeemed for my wife when she has not flown with me.
We have done this for both SQ flights and *A redemptions.

I have also for example redeemed for my wife on Virgin as a Partner Award (as it used less points and fees, than booking with Virgin direct) when I had a paid ticket (I was working and the wife tagging along).

From SQ:

Redeem miles for award tickets

Use your miles for people you know
Pick up to five people as your redemption nominees, and use your KrisFlyer miles so they can enjoy award tickets and flight upgrades too.

Anyone can be your redemption nominee – your family, friends, colleagues or neighbours. However, once you add someone, you can’t change them for six months. While adding names is free, deleting them will cost you miles or money.
