Hi all,

Has anyone done a domestic flight to Adelaide then follow by international flight out? Just curious if QF is able to check my luggage through? Or I will need to collect my luggage then check-in from Adelaide... thanks

I have done it years ago in Y but for the life of me I cannot remember how I flew MEL-ADL - most likely it wasn't with QF - mind you ADL not so busy so collection / re-check is pretty simple.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming Qantas doesn't interline to SQ?

In which case you would need to pick up your luggage in ADL and re-check it.

Adelaide luggage collection is really quick. By the time you walk down to the collection area it’s usually there. Then you need to go up the lifts to get to SQ check in. That’s where the wait will be. It’s on the left as you exit the lifts. Virgin inter lines with SQ.

What Pushka said.

Really, it's like being in a single Terminal anyway. So imagine arriving into the domestic QF terminal in Melb, collecting your luggage and then walking back up stairs to rebook into the domestic QF check in. The longest part is probably waiting for the lift back upstairs if you need to use it instead of stairs or escalator.

Unless the place is dead quiet avoid the lifts!

Actually the longest part in ADL now is the queue for security if you don't have entry to the premium lane, my goodness it can be LONG.

ADL has double security if you do bag drop procedure.
One for domestic and one for international.
Double ouch.
No lounge access in Y so no rush to go through international security, as via ts a zoo in there.
Unless you are VA SG, smallish SQ KF SK lounge downstairs past immigration and duty free.
You will see what I mean.
Yep I too call ADL home.

That’s pretty common to have multiple security checks. Liquids come out at the second check. Likely body scan. Not a biggie.

I haven't done too many double security scans yet.
Out of 50 or so trips out of ADL in 25 odd years, have only done 3 international departures directly out of ADL.

As previously suggested, you can not transfer your bags from QF to SQ in Adelaide nor at any airport. However, its possible with VA to SQ and have done this many times in the past.

The international security process at ADL is a breeze though.
The domestic security is weird in that they ask you to take out umbrellas. I was chatting to security in Melbourne why they didn’t require it and they thought the Adelaide Policy was just weird.

Separate tickets, no.

If separate tickets, allow plenty of time to make the connection in case the inbound is delayed.

To be clear, that is in relation to separate tickets.

If travel connecting QF and SQ are on the one ticket, then baggage will be interlined as QF and SQ indeed have such an agreement.

They are not quite the only ones. But they caught me the other week! I looked up the law - it seems it's optional - up to the airport security.

You're absolutely right, should've been more specific

QF and SQ on the same PNR but separate tickets will still be through-checked.
